OOM's anyway!

Sliders minimized - saving/reloading at TD - Excluding ALL airports through SCE, except for those in use - OOM's anyway!

What the heck is wrong with this PMDG app?!

I've been flying CS 767 for years and lately the CS 777 with sliders on average and ALL scenery active without any OOM problems Whatsoever!

HIGHMEM=1 fix in the fsx.cfg file in conjunction with upgrading to a 64x operating system helped me tremendously.

Cheers

Well buddy, wasn't exactly searching for any advice here - just a statement!

I'm using both 64 OS and HIGMENTH=1 already!

Well obviously there is something wrong, as many thousands of simmers can use the 777 without any problem.

Have you tried to set your Texture Max Load to 2048 and the Level of Detail Radius to a max of 4,500000? (many people are using 6,500000, which is a nice setting for VFR and GA-Planes, but useless for heavy airliners)

Also try to decrease your autogen-setting to "Dense", because every house and tree has a texture that needs to be rendered as well, especially during approach this can cause serious VAS usage.

Just trying to sort things out, it is a shame that you cannot enjoy the 777 yet, but maybe we can find a solution here ;)

Guys, thanks for your kind intention of being helpful! But, again my topic was entirely meant as a statement.

I've been around for many, many years, so I know exactly what I'm talking about!

BTW, I'm already using LOD 4.5000. Autogen is set to Sparse. Texture Max Load to 1024.

As said, again, no problems whatsoever with CS 767 and 777 even with much higher settings!

So something is obviously NOT working as it should with PMDG.

However considering the fact that the 777 is rather new to PMDG I'm prepared for some patience here, to some extend....

This may be a longshot, but has anything changed on your system recently?  Perhaps a software update outside of FSX is causing some extreme resource usage?  Your issue could be a great many things outside of FSX so perhaps taking inventory of recent events or changes to the rest of your machine might also be in order.

Addon scenery or anything else is not relevant in this context as the problem is only present when flying PMDG.

I wonder why it can be such a big surprise for anyone here when similar VAS/OOM experiences regarding to the PMDG T7 is to found all over the internet these days.

The T7's VAS footprint is about 0.9 GB. Your other planes will be 0.7 GB in VAS or even much less. So it's likely the T7 tips the scales.

But the FSX VAS limit is 4.0 GB. So there must be 2.9+ GB "in between" - and that can hardly be "FSX vanilla" alone.

Addon scenery IS relevant, photoscenery (in case it's not deactivated) in particular:

Guess, since you've been around for many, many years, you know exactly what I'm talking about!

Olli, I really appreciate your effort on the subject, even though you're obviously entirely without any responsibility to PMDG's 'overload' problem. I think you deserve much credit from them, answering on their behalf! Anyway this problem doesn't change the fact that it's properly the most realistic and sophisticated non pro simulator, at least that I know of, and I'm sure that these clever folks at PMDG is fully aware of the problem and doing their very best to avoid the problem for future versions.

Your answers however doesn't change anything to my original statement, as the scenery background is exactly the same whether I'm using Capt.Sim or PMDG. Capt.Sim doesn't give me OOMs, but PMDG does. That's the bottom line, pure and simple.

As for your interest in my scenery addon, I fly only these liners in Europe with FTX Global/Vector, UTX (only with landclass enabled) and FS Global 2010. With Scenery Config. Editor (SCE) I exclude ALL none relevant addons including any photo scenery, non relevant FTX LC and any of my hundreds of non relevant addon airports except for those 2-3 airports in use for the particular flight.

Further more, when I fly Capt.Sim or anything else I don't need SCE to exclude anything in my scenery addons. I only began to use SCE when I experienced the OOM's with PMDG, helping me a bit, but certainly not enough.

I have no further comments to the subject.

Thank you.

I have to support Olli here.

That is the only purpose though, supporting Olli, as the OP has stated several times he does not want any help,.

He is also so so soooo experienced that he does not need any help nor can he image that anyone could know anything he does not already know that could possibly help him!

Why anybody would even post here when he/she does not want any help is beyond me.

Unless it is to entertain.....which this case is not.

If you think something is wrong.....and you dont want help from the forums....then write it to PMDG directly with a support ticket.

The thing the OP does not seem to grasp is that VAS is a simple matter of summing things up.

A statement like "other airplanes do not OOM, but the 777 does OOM" thus the 777 has a problem, proves that.

IF FSX+scenery+weather+AI traffic+ADDON AIRCRAFT = <4 then No OOM

IF FSX+scenery+weather+AI traffic+ADDON AIRCRAFT = >4 then OOM

So as Olli explained....the 777 is just tipping you over the edge due to the larger VAS footprint it has compared to other addon aircraft.

You need to compensate by reducing other things in the equation!

simple as that.

Or you can try a switch to DX10

Or you can try if the official Microsoft Windows 7 OOM bug fix helps you.

(I would have to look up the URL, so let me know if you are interested)

If I may chime in...I own both the CaptainSim T7 and the PMDG and I can say that both are not equal.  PMDG is as close as you will ever get to flying the real aircraft and with that, they programmed a whole lot more into their model than CS.  Perhaps the differences you experiences are based on the complexity of the models.  I have found that CS T7 runs better on my machine than PMDG and rightfully so, it just made sense.  I won't fault PMDG for developing such a great aircraft that is chock full of complexity because that was the reason I bought it (after purchasing CS's version because of the lack of complexity and true realism that PMDG always had...you get what you pay for).

Are you looking for entertainment or learning?  This is what you would need to ask yourself.  If it's for learning, you can't go wrong with PMDG so you may want to invest in better hardware?  Just a suggestion, nothing more.
