Hello guys,

 

I came to this forum without any knowledge about DX10 looking for help and after some tweaks and topic discussion with some members of this forum related with DX10 and Windows 8.1 this is the result so far for a series of tweak's and test on FSX! So far my system is running very soft, no crashes, i got really good performance and very good graphics quality. As you guys can see for weather i'm not 100% familiarized with the correct setting to make my engines run more clouds and more turbulence, something that i would like to catch for more realism proposite, my weather engine is REX Essential + Overdrive and i got REX 4 Texture Direct as well. For this sample i'm using the PMDG NGX 900 aircraft and DX10 Scenery Fixer v2.3   :im Not Worthy: i want to say thanks to the forum and the guys who gave me their reviews and suggestions on this topic >>>> Richard Sennett, SteveW, mgh and voodoo101, i really appreciate your help guys.

May I be the first to say that the shots look great. Really glad that DX10 works for you. I might give it another try in the future.

 

With regards to your config. I was under the assumption that 'usepools' and 'poolsize' was the same thing, so I think you only need one.

 

If you are looking for a very good weather engine then I highly recommend Activesky Next. Especially with REX textures. It very easy to set up, including a realism setting. The fog is amazing and you can actually lose your plane in it. I don't know if you have the PMDG777, but I know you can load the weather direct into the FMC with the touch of a button and the new update makes it automatic and adds a weather radar, all via ASN. I'm guessing that PMDG will put all that in the NGX with SP2, but don't quote me on that.

UsePools is a switch, 0 is off, 1 is on, it helps editing and trying bufferpools values in tweaking.

Yes Bob, I understand the fact that it is a switch, like a lot of other entries in FSX, however as stated in Word Not Allowed's guide and many others, 'poolsize=0' and 'usepools=0' is the same thing so you can use either. That is what I was saying.

Tks. I read somewhere that FSX didn't benefit from SLI, esp. with complex VC. I'll try your settings with SLI on and see.
