July 19, 201411 yr First off let me say how beautiful the 77W is! Thank you! The reason for posting this - when panning around admiring the airframe in exterior view, I zoomed in to view the forward taxi cam that shows the nose wheel, when doing so my FPS dropped significantly from 120+ to 5.4 that's on the exterior view with no additional windows open! I am currently flying to Washington from Istanbul so cannot post pictures, just to confirm - has anyone else noticed this?
July 19, 201411 yr I think it's been well documented that using the new cam views hits frame rates hard. This is because it forces FSX to render an additional 3 external world views. think the idea is to use it sparingly during taxy only!
July 19, 201411 yr Author I don't think you understand - I did not use the taxi cam at all when experiencing this significant loss in Frame Rate, I was on the plain exterior view with no external windows open such as the taxi cam, when I zoomed into the nose taxi cam on the exterior view I noticed a significant decrease in FPS! This has no relation to using the taxi cam.
July 19, 201411 yr Ah sorry - I misunderstood your post, as you say. Do your frame rates return to normal if you zoom out again? If so, the solution is straight forward...
July 19, 201411 yr Currently in cruise, no problem here, zoomed all the way in to 128X zoom to look at the camera itself, no loss in FPS at all. Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
July 19, 201411 yr Author Do your frame rates return to normal if you zoom out again? If so, the solution is straight forward... Yes they do, but I just wanted to put this out there so PMDG know of a potential issue.... Currently in cruise, no problem here, zoomed all the way in to 128X zoom to look at the camera itself, no loss in FPS at all. Did you pan up and down? There's a certain angle/position that the frame rate loss occurs. If only I could post a video on here...
July 19, 201411 yr Uninstall the taxicam from panel.cfg when you life without it. With taxicam in VC: 4 - 6 FPS Without taxicam in VC: +20 FPS Greetings from Cologne, Tobias
July 19, 201411 yr Author Uninstall the taxicam from panel.cfg when you life without it. With taxicam in VC: 4 - 6 FPS Without taxicam in VC: +20 FPS With taxicam in the cockpit at high density airports I get the lowest of 17fps in the exterior its 25+
July 19, 201411 yr My performance is atrocious. Just saw below 10fps for the first time entering KLAX... ever. Always get 25-30 fps in the NGX, and I could have sworn it was never this bad in the 777 before. Ethan Edelson

Always get 25-30 fps in the NGX, and I could have sworn it was never this bad in the 777 before. For me performance is the same as it was in the 200 before SP1, no change there, its just these taxi cams causing the issue's with performance!
July 19, 201411 yr Commercial Member I'm so confused right now... It's been known for a while that the taxi cams - when activated - will kill your frames (loading a model three times, as the cam system does, will do that). What - step-by-step - are you doing to cause this? Kyle Rodgers
July 19, 201411 yr If the taxi cam is not selected will there be any form of performance loss? Can the taxi cam be disabled completely if so desired? My FPS in thE 77W is alot worse than the 77L prior to SP1, not tested 77L SP1 as im flying the 77W. I estimate my FPS loss to be at least 8-10 FPS. Eager to find if other people ahve had FPS loss issues, without the taxi cam being on.

I do not believe his question is pertaining to operating the taxi cams, I think he is stating that upon zooming into the physical mounting locations of the cameras on the aircraft, he experiences FPS loss. To be honest, not sure why we will zoom into the cameras on a daily basis, but I suppose he is just looking for confirmation of such issue.

When I land in Washington in about 4 hours time, I will post a pic either here (if it will let me) or in the screenshot forum entitled - PMDG 77W FPS Loss. A picture speaks a thousand words....
