Flight Replicas DH.114 Heron released

Has anyone bought this just released plane? The VC looks pretty good.  My concern would be system functionality.  Any user comments appreciated.

I own all of their Super Cub variants, and a couple in particular remain on my list of favorite FSX addons. I even enjoy the freeware MiniMax. FlightReplicas vc textures are a bit too clean for my taste, but that can be fixed. I will look in to it. Thanks for the heads-up

There's another release thread here, if it's any help, where you can feel free to ask people who already have the Heron what they think:

Screenshots look nice. Beautiful aeroplane. Will check out the thread thanks.

It's a real beauty, frankly don't know anything about the real counterpart and how it flies in rl but this classic at least for my taste is really well done. The vc is really nice and great texturing, some may argue that the textures may look a bit like a model but considering the scarcity of classic models for fsx this is a very good product (at least for me).

Hi Alexander. The textures are clean (if that's what you are referring to), as almost every photo of the real Heron's shows them to have been kept relatively spotless when in service. They almost never chipped and streaked, and they created virtually no exhaust or oil stains, and so that's the way we went. There is actual dirt and staining on the model, but minimally, as appeared on (and in) the real Herons to the best of our photo interpretation.

All panel lines and rivets are there, but to scale, and so may not show up well in the longer 'focal range' a screenshot needs to have for a larger aircraft. But every little vent and airscoop on the fuselage (that we could see) is there, for example. You may see these if you look more closely at the screenshots, or perhaps we can add some close-ups....

Of course, for those who prefer a more used or badly cared for look, that's easy to do! There is a paint kit available.

I don't think the real one had anything beyond basic systems.

The Manual for the Heron has now been added to the product page, and can be downloaded for free. This includes the printable checklists and reference, in case you'd like to have a look at those, too.

This should also give a good idea of systems and functionality. Not a complex aircraft, as mentioned, and in fact was designed to be flown by a single pilot where regulations allowed, the only physical difference there being that the co-pilot yoke was removed and the pedals folded up..

I have downloaded the manual.  From reading the manual, it ounds as if the aircraft is generally systems functional, recognizing that it was a fairly basic aircraft.  Propeller speed is evidently not adjustable and there are no fuel mixture levers.  But it looks like it is a very good model. I know this is an FSX forum, but am curious if it is compatible with P3Dv2.

I see from the SOH thread it has alot of positive feedback.

I've been up close to a few but sadly never flown one in real life. Definitely going to buy this at the weekend - such a pretty aeroplane with the perfect name!
