What is the deal with Aerosoft airports lights?!?!

Featured Replies

Im getting fed up with the horrible lights at some of Aerosoft addon airports. I have tried to applied the runway lights tweaks in addition to changing the size of some lights with REX Overdrive. This works ok with some airports such as Oslo X, Arlanda, Helsinki but others like Brussels X, Heathrow X, Dublin X, Paris X etc looks terrible. The lights are so blobby and oversized that I dont even want to land there anymore. Are there any simmers out there having the same problems?

I totally agree, they are abysmal at many of the airports, overly bright, far too big and blurry. I posted something a while back but never received a positive outcome. It would be good if someone around here could suggest a way of adjusting them, because like you say, at some airports they are just horrible.

Are people generally satisfied with the "nintendo64" lightning at the airports? Why come no one answers this question?

Some pic example of what you mean might help. I have Anchorage X and think it looks great.

In fairness, this is not that bad, but I wasn't going to trawl through all my AS airports to find the culprits, but there are many. This is LEBL...

Wow!  I've never seen lights like that on my Aerosoft airports.  I have about half a dozen installed in FSX and a lot more for FS9.  Could it be gpu driver related?

I have a GTX 760 with the latest available drivers. So I don't think so since other AS airports works fine.

Yeah, I don't have lights like that either. Something is definitely wrong but not sure its the airport to blame.

I don't really no much about this stuff but as this is the first thing that comes to mind for my self fort id get it out there.

Could it be a conflict between the add ons installed ?

Yeah, I know. I wonder if it has anything to do with Orbx lights? Although, in fairness, I've always experienced this at most Aerosoft airports, no others, hence the reason why I think it is Aerosoft related.

I have a lot of Aerosoft airports Howard and I can't say I've noticed ORBX lights messing them up at all, let alone like those in the pic above.  Do you have any runway_lights edits in your fsx.cfg or an edited/amended halo.bmp?

Cheers

Hi Paul,

You know, sometimes, I can't help feeling that when the big guy upstairs was handing out common sense that he at some point forgot about me   For some reason, all this time I've had REX installed, I always thought that the lights config editor would only alter default airports, and of course it changes lights at payware airports too! So after all this time I've managed to get my lights looking very nice! Thanks for the input Paul. So from an embarrassed simmer, I'll sign off...

So you deactivated REX?

NOOOO!  If you have REX 4, go to the lights configurator and choose a theme called Triple Head to Go. That is the one I am using at the moment. It may be that I'll change it later, but at the moment using that theme has reduced all the bright halo looking lights. If you have a previous REX version, then just do some experimenting with the different light themes..... I still can't believe I haven't done this before
