Do you guys use enb and shade for fsx?

Featured Replies

I have been seeing lots of YouTube videos out there that use the enb settings. And some use the shade mod. I saw they have the shade for fsx in the flightsim store. Do ya guys use these mods? They look like a cheap and easy way to make the colors look more natural. Thanks

Do ya recommend installing the enb first. Then purchas the 10 dollar shade?

The order doesn't matter, both programs modify different things. Shade can darken/lighten shadows and "fog"- (the color of IFR conditions) as well as change the effects based on time of day.

ENB gives light the "flare/brightness" effect by darkening areas around the light, or darkening dark areas. It's more what your a camera would see if looking out the window.  It's give-and-take however. ENB files that make nighttime flyable have the adverse effect of making daytime look like nuclear explosion bright. The ones that give a realistic daytime look, make night flying very difficult (everything is too dark)

Try ENB first. You may not like the results as it often looks good in one area but then very poor in others.

The developer of Shade has his own enb configuration in the Goodies folder and it is set to use ENB for bloom only. I just use Shade and it performs well. There have been a lot of crashes caused by this module and the SweetFX modules too so beware. Many have no problems with the modules but many report crashes or anomalies when using the ENB series.
