737 NGX weather radar

Featured Replies

I guess I'm one of the fooled into thinking the P3D version of the ngx was going to be released with weather radar and other enhancements.

I'm sure I saw a screenshot here in the pmdg forum.

I guess one has to always read the fine print, and continue to follow these post before purchasing.

Why do developers feel the need to tell us what is coming, before they know when it's coming.

Stick to developing and release it when it's ready.

NGX in P3D comes with an operating WXR...

How dare you put this tactless diatribe to PMDG in this fashion! Go to your room and play with your Tonka truck! Don't come out until you apologise.

Steve,

Not sure what's happening here, but in the future, please discuss things with us before going off on rants to give us a chance to respond. There is weather radar in the NGX for P3D. We developed the SP1d and P3D version side by side. Reasons you may not be seeing returns might be that you haven't turned the weather radar on by hitting the WX button, and/or you do not have ASN installed.

Will there be any chance of the NGX Weather radar working with OpusFSI Weather Engine in the future?

Or will it just be ActiveSky forever?

Nameless,

This is dependent on weather or not (see what I did there :P) OpusFSI create a module like ASConnect that allows PMDG to read their weather data accurately.

Guys,

The end issue here is that ASN is currently the only one who provides this function.

Also, I'm not entirely convinced that HiFi is hacking into anything at all so much as forcing the weather picture in the sim to look like the radar picture out of the sim. I know Aerosoft described looking into the sim data for precip, but I don't think this is what HiFi does. If anyone has any actual source for the "hacking" from HiFi themselves, then please post it. If not, let's end this discussion here.

Gents,

I've hidden a number of posts here because they discuss improperly using an ASN module with another product. ASN's latest DLL prohibits this use, which means that HiFi is taking active steps in prohibiting use of their product with other weather engines. To me, this means that they are enforcing specific clauses in their EULA. As advocating/discussing EULA busting is prohibited on AVSIM, I'm opting to limit this discussion here.

Currently, the NGX radar simulation requires ASN. Please do not discuss workarounds, or avoiding the restrictions put in place by HiFi for the use of their products.
