August 26, 201411 yr I'm pleased that I've now got MCE and RC4 working reasonably well together, but I'm not satisfied with the way "William" operates the radio. Can William talk to ATC autonomously, ie with no action on my part and with me hearing both sides of the radio conversation? Or am I trying to achieve the unachievable? Many thanks for any assistance.

To illustrate this:- Watch this video. Immediately William ( who is Flight Engineer BTW but also has the radio's!!!) answers Tower "cleared for take off", no prompting, he just does it. At t+1.25, William acknowledges Tower frequency change, again he just does it! Later, as the heat is on, (terrible pun sorry) you see the RC4 menu screen has options for you (Pilot In Command) to select. You select one and William will answer with your selection. Best Regards David
August 26, 201411 yr Author Right, so from both answers above (for which many thanks) it would appear that I should be hearing William talk to ATC. But I don't! So what do I need to check/uncheck in the MCE/RC4 menus, please?
August 29, 201411 yr Author Eureka ! After delicate vocal chord surgery, I'm pleased to announce that William has a voice! Since nobody on here was prepared to reveal the secret, I've just spent the last 3 days in a hit or miss (mostly miss!) session, running the program and ticking/un-ticking the various options in the menu. I hope it's ok to reveal that "Play Pilot Wavs", "Pilot Auto-rely" and "Tune on Contact" all have to be ticked. Why weren't they ticked previously? Because the manual, in the MCE/RC4 interface section, specifically recommends that these options be un-ticked! No wonder I have very little hair left...
November 13, 201411 yr Commercial Member no reactions? The manual is still valid for the typical user going through the Demo. You don't want RC4 playing Pilot voice when you have transmitted using speech. Nor do you want an intruder in the cockpit. I mean 2 voices for FO. For registered users who may be aware of the specific voice packs made available for use with RC4, you can enable FO voice in RC4, provided you are flying with FO William or Lorna. Instructions included in download. http://www.multicrewxp.com/MCE_Voice_Packs_For_Radar_Contact.zip Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com

That's what I have done in later videos. We may forget sometimes that MCE and RC4 are different programmes from different developers and are only "married" because both individuals are of impeccable manners and upbringing! ^_^ ( a rare event in computing, let alone real life!! ) The manuals for both are in depth reading and require study. But personally speaking, I found test flights are a good way to discover which settings suit your style. You can fly with William or Lorna installed into RC4's Winwood, folder as per instructions (both voice packs are digitally high quality) and never speak a word to ATC. Just use the RC4 on screen menu for whatever you want the FO to say. Then you can resume ATC communications by a "My comms" or "My Radio" command. So you have the best of both worlds. November 13, 201411 yr Author In fact, that's the way I operate the PMDG 747 and MD11 these days. I never speak to ATC but let William handle the radio while I get on with the fun bit... Flying the plane!
November 17, 201411 yr Sorry to butt in but does that mean MCE can have full control with Atc via Radar Contact without me speaking to ATC?
November 17, 201411 yr Yes. But only if William or Lorna is your copilot and if you hand over the radio to them John Cramer
