Hi, 

I'm having some problems in the startup screen in Prepar3D 2.3, some menus and check boxes are hidden. For instance, i can´t choose an aircraft in startup screen, because the box "change" is hidden by the image of the aircraft. I also can´t access the "Advanced Weather" menu and change time and date. In order to solve the problem i tried to change Windows DPI settings but the problem continues. Could you please help to fix this?

There is a thread at the LM forum about this but unfortunately no explanation how this guy got the problem solved. Maybe you could ask there?

It looks like he changed the Windows font size. 

I am using Windows 8 and also tried to change fonts size but without luck.

Have you tried rightclick desktop - personalize - display - change size for all items

I would say, don't change your font size but use the scaling slider.

For testing purposes do this:

 

STEP 1

======

- Right mouse button on empty space on your desktop

- Select "Personalize"

- Under the "My Themes" category, select "Save theme" and give it a personal name. This will allow you to revert your settings back at the end of this test (step 1 and 2) if you whish

- Then choose the Windows default theme

- Close the Personalization menu

 

STEP 2

======

- Right mouse button on empty space on your desktop

- Select "Screen resolution"

- Set resolution to the "recomended" value for your display

- Click the blue line "Make text and other items larger or smaller"

- Make sure the slider is all the way to the left (smallest)

 

This will apply no scaling at all, in Windows 7 you have the option 100% 125% and 150% but in Windows 8.1 it has become a slider which in fact will represent these 3 scaling levels.

 

For Windows 7 -> you need to log off and log on for changes to take effect. Under Windows 8.1 this happens on the fly, no need to log off.

 

Then start Prepar3d and check if it still shows up problematic.

 

EDIT:

I've tested this, and it is entirely related to the scaling setting.

It has nothing to do with the zoom level of IE (bottom right corner, in the status bar).

Thanks for your reply vesalius. I followed all steps you posted but got the same problem. 

The most i got was shrink the startup window, but still cannot choose airplane and made changes in the time of day menu.

Just for the heck of it, I would lower my resolution and see it that doesn't cause the startup window to size properly???

Have you set the right screen resolution in P3D v2 itself?

Did you update from P3D v2.2, and if so did you delete the program generated files as recommended? It might be worth a try to move UISettings.xml out to your desktop and let the program generate a new one, the file contains a lot of screen coordinates that may have been changed between v2.2 and v2.3. Example:

Not sure if that applies but at any rate it's a pretty simple thing to try and the sim will build a new one next time you start it. UISettings.xml is located in %appdata%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2, same place the Prepar3D.cfg is located.

Thanks Jim, it worked! Removed the UlSettings.xml file, set my screen resolution and voila.
