September 22, 201411 yr Hi Martin, Many thanks for your help. However I have checked my FSX config file and I don't seem to have the FiberFrameTimeFraction line installed? Cheers, Michael.
September 22, 201411 yr Michael That's no problem as the FFTF does not automatically appear in the fsx cfg. The default fsx value is 0.33. The tweak to improve frame rates is to set a lower number. However depending upon the system and scenery too low s fraction produces blurries. On the subject of scenery I notice in your profile that you have your home made scenery - these could potentially not be compatible with Fiber Accelerator - hence maybe the decrease in fps when you have tried the product? Martin
September 23, 201411 yr Hi again Martin, I have checked my default FSX config file and can confirm that I do not have a line in there with Fiber_Frame_Time_Fraction=0.33 Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, Michael.
September 23, 201411 yr Just run up my FSX in default scenery (Yuk) and the FSX Fiber Accelerator kills FPS in that too so its not my home made photo real scenery causing problems with the software. Ah well back to the drawing board. Cheers, Michael.
November 14, 201411 yr Author Moderator Welcome to AvSim Brian. I do agree that having to prove each time you launch FSFA that you are a legitimate owner is over the top. But the checking is transparent to me and doesn't cause me any problems. If you have a cockpit it's reasonable to assume you fly with real-time weather so if that's the case then just install FSFA on the same PC as your weather program. If you don't agree to their T&Cs you would have to uninstall the program and you wouldn't get a refund of course. That's why they offer a limited trial. Don't discuss 'cracked' versions. That is only going to get you a warning from a moderator or even a ban if you persist. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 14, 201411 yr Author Moderator Thinking a little more about this requirement for an internet connection when starting FSFA. What if a user's connection is down through no fault of his own? Is he then prevented from using software he has legitimately purchased? I had a faulty modem a couple of months ago which meant no internet connection for over 3 days. I don't recall flying during that time but if I had and FSFA had not been able to 'call home' would the program have stopped working? That question is directed at the owners of FSFA. Preventing someone from running legitimately purchased software because of a situation outside his control would appear to contravene consumer's rights. I'll throw that one out to the community as well as FSFA's owners. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 14, 201411 yr one way to find out is to test it for yourself, turn off your modem and see if it works that simple I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
November 14, 201411 yr I never bought it because of their limited demo. I couldn't get it to show any benefit during my five tries. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
November 14, 201411 yr Limited? thought that 5 hours would have been enough time to test it on ones machine, least they gave a option of 5 trial periods I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
November 14, 201411 yr Limited? thought that 5 hours would have been enough time to test it on ones machine, least they gave a option of 5 trial periods I did five tests...each lasted about 10-15 minutes (doesn't take long to see things aren't working better). Then I was out tries. Uninstall. Move on. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
November 14, 201411 yr Author Moderator I've disabled my network controller and launched FA. It starts fine. I tried it a further 4 times and it didn't complain about the lack of internet connectivity. The reply from FSPS would appear to be erroneous, at least for me. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 14, 201411 yr The reply from FSPS would appear to be erroneous, at least for me. Same here. I tried it twice with absolutely no internet connectivity and it seems to work normally. But nevertheless I dislike the original post of this subject as it goes far beyond what I would call an appropriate way to position one's claims. But like Bill Stevens from the local flight standards district office uses to say: "Everyone can have a bad day but there is more than that going on here..." B) Claus KUEPPER
November 14, 201411 yr Author Moderator It will be interesting to read Brian's reply and maybe one from FSPS. I'd also suggest to Brian he changes his AvSim name. Publishing your email address will only cause spambots to lick their lips. Claus. Bill is spot on. Ray (Cheshire, England).
