October 4, 201411 yr Don't quite know if it is available in your hardware/handyman stores US-side, but over here, I purchased a small compressor, which has worked out much, much cheaper than those Air Duster cans. What I like about the airisol cans sold is the cleaner that is in the high velocity air stream, which gets any film off the parts and formulated for circuitry.
October 5, 201411 yr Hi Rick, I was considering purchasing a small compressor. I would appreciate info on the model you have and where to get it. I am in London UK.
October 5, 201411 yr Hi Rick, I was considering purchasing a small compressor. I would appreciate info on the model you have and where to get it. I am in London UK. If you live within vicinity of one of the 'new' supermarket boys' on the market, i.e. Aldi or Lidl, look for when they are selling small portable compressor, which they do at least twice a year. I prefer the Aldi product. Cost me under £60 around 5-6 years ago, maybe a bit more now but comes with a range of accessories, such a paint sprayer amongst others. I discovered how much it paid back when I told an IT mate who works for a national 'out-of-town' IT company and he saved them a fortune at £10 a go air-duster cans which they sold, but needed for their repair department. Needless to say, I too stopped buying these expensive air-duster cans, and that Aldi compressor does a superb job of thoroughly cleaning dust entering through the front mesh screens if you have such a case, or the fins in one of those HSF with fans and heat-pipes, GPU fans, etc, etc. I know my system is kept maintained regularly thanks to this Aldi compressor which comes with a very long air-hose. And recently Lidl also did an even smaller one that plugged into a car's cigarette lighter socket. Hope this info helps. Rick Almeida
October 5, 201411 yr If you live within vicinity of one of the 'new' supermarket boys' Link to your version would be great - thanks - I would be careful not to blow something off the motherboard Rich Sennett
October 6, 201411 yr Link to your version would be great - thanks - I would be careful not to blow something off the motherboard Hi Rich Good sound advice re:blowing off the motherboard, but as there is control effected via a trigger, it is control in one's hands, i.e. a gentle waft of air across a dusty motherboard, or a full blast through clogged fan vanes. As the poster was asking a UK-based question, saw no point in linking two UK supermarkets to a global readership, but here it is anyway: https://www.aldi.co.uk(Aldi) or http://www.lidl.co.uk/(Lidl), both German companies.
