December 21, 201411 yr My TracIR 5 has been working great since I got it a month ago, until now, acting super strange. If I sit relatively quiet and dont move my head for a couple of seconds, it seems like the sensor disconnects and the view pans down either to the left or to the right. So what happens next when I move my head again is that every movement is according to the new camera position created when the sensor disconnects. Extremely annoying!! And it doesnt help if I reset the view within the Track IR software either. I tried reinstalling the software, but no luck. Could it be a virus-related thing? I mean, since it all of a sudden decided to make my life miserable. Brynjar Mauseth
December 21, 201411 yr Sounds like your picking up some interference. Are you sure your not getting any sunlight coming in a window in your direction? Make sure there are no reflections like a mirror, shiny objects or anything directing a hot spot. I know in the winter months the sun is lower in my region and comes through a window behind my computer and the reflection off of my shiny black plastic of my monitor stands causes interference with the TrackIR, I have to cover the window. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?
December 22, 201411 yr Check the display screens in the TrackIR app. If ambient light is interfering, it will show up. Sometimes even a reflection can throw the TrackIR camera off. The other cause may be from tilting your head to far.
December 22, 201411 yr You really should map a button/switch to the "Center" function for TiR. This will allow you to 'recover' from those times when the view center goes haywire due to background interference or looking to far beyond the limits of the profile settings. I also have a button mapped to the "Enable/Pause" function of TiR to facilitate using the hat switch to pan to normally inaccessable areas of the VC or to 'steady' the view for hitting small mouse click areas. December 22, 201411 yr Because the unit emits an infrared light if something reflective in its field of view it will be affected. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the unit was suddenly acting up and realized the Nike running top that I was wearing had a reflective safety strip on the plaquette running the length of the zipper. \Robert Hamlich/
December 22, 201411 yr Author Because the unit emits an infrared light if something reflective in its field of view it will be affected. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the unit was suddenly acting up and realized the Nike running top that I was wearing had a reflective safety strip on the plaquette running the length of the zipper. Thanks for answering all! I figured out the problem - apparently, some christmas light behind be messed it up. So, I removed it of course but it still acted weird. It hit me that the sensor on top of my screen is not parallel to the Track Clip Pro on the side of my headset. Therefore I moved the sensor a little bit to the left and turned it to face the Track Clip directly. Now everything works perfectly and I can even elongate my head movements in every directions.
