Just a reply about the point regarding the cfg file. The whole idea with the cfg file and us screwing with it was that we were trying, with limited success and much frustration, to maximize the sims performance for our individual hardware config. With a unified hardware architecture and software being optimized just for that hardware, why would one ever need to screw around with cfg files or endless tweaks?I still don't really get it as to why people are kind of offended by the X360. It is like having only one computer manufacturer and FS was optimized for it; No tweaking, No paying someone by the hour to get rid of blurries or stutters, no shutting down services, no endless hours of non-flying for that one perfect hour of flying. Is there something inherently wrong with that?Again, having said all that, I truly believe there will be a PC version too. But there's nothing wrong with an Xbox version. Who knows, you might like it.

Personally, I couldn't imagine playing FS on the XBOX..

------------------------------------------------------------------------I think many are underestimating the new XBox or consoles in general. It's not a Super Nintendo! Modern consoles are completely different animals.------------------------------------------------------------------------Yes i totally agree with that comment. Consoles are getting more & more powerful all the time. I hear the Sony PS3 is gonna be a screamer too.Besides I dont think its a bad thing that the new Xbox is getting a FS title. It will spread the word about simming & aviation to more people. I would not worry about there never being MSFS for the PC just because of these new consoles. MS knows that if it keeps churning em out...we will keep buying! I know I will :)

Also, the fact alone that it is announced for the XBox does NOT eliminate the PC version - I know for a fact that at least one more game on that list WILL be available for the PC.

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!NEWSFLASH: The new X box can be ported into any computer running Windows XP. So in reality, what would be the difference EXCEPT I wouldn't have to spend $1500 on a new rig that MIGHT give acceptable performance at a sim maxed out load. Though I would welcome a retreat by Microsoft from the flite sim market, I really don't think it will happen and the new X box ported to your computer will support all your peripherals, addons and whatnot besides totally blowing your mind... IMOBest Regards, Donny:-wave

"(...) I would welcome a retreat by Microsoft from the flite sim market (...)"Which would leave us (some lesser known attempts excluded) with one product by a (sadly missed) very much dead man, and one product by a bloke who's heading for a nervous breakdown by exuding upgrades just about twice a day. I surely hope that Microsoft does NOT retreat from the flight sim market!Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

If it would mean..no more ADWARE Popups.... Then..I am listening.:)

I agree Ricardo/folks .... we could adapt to the xbox as a flight sim platform. Addons (yokes, rudder petals, etc. ) will adjust. Additionally, For folks with huge screen TV's, stereo surround sound ..... talking about the potential for increased immersion into the flight sim enviornment. :-)Vernon

Rob,I think folks are forgetting the the X360 is a computer ..... similar to the one they are using today. Addons could be/will be made available ... thus creating the exact duplicate of the current day platform. I can invision having a mouse, keyboard, yoke, and rudder, petal addons for the X360 computer. I luv this sim as well .... I have been siming as long as any other in this forum .... but I do not believe that an X360 flight sim will kill the hobby ... not for one moment, i dont ;-)Vernon

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Consider this: Do the best and brightest, with the most ambition, do they want to work for Bill Gates or do they want to BE the next Bill Gates? Those are the kind that can take a sim to a level where you might just want to fly the default planes. The void would be filled a LOT sooner than you think, though as I stated I do NOT think that Microsoft will retreat, and the ability to port X box into your PC will only enhance MSFS for the PC.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

>I don't understand how anyone can support an Xbox-only FS>future. The only reason I still use it is because of the>community that we have, creating both freeware and payware>programs that take the "game" to another level. >Your post makes it seem that moving FS to the XBox (something>I predicted some months ago) is sort of like moving the Eiffel>Tower from Paris to London. The FS9 franchise is a game for>entertainment purposes only. I suspect that addon developers>will adjust quickly. I don't see why you can't hook up rudder>pedals and a yoke to your XBox. > Though I would welcome a retreat by Microsoft from the>flite sim marketWhy......Are you hoping that PMDG or RealAir might again write for an old version of FLY, or that Dreamfleet and Flight1 might move to X-Plane?Might I have to go back to so many cockpits "without" working gauges in side views. Could I do without the virtual cockpit and precise aerobatic flight dynamics of the RealAir SF260? Will I forever remain at 1028*768 instead of MSFS's 1600*1200?What's the point, unless it's just an agenda against Microsoft?L.Adamson
