XBOX 360 - The FACTS

Featured Replies

Fact1: The new XBOX will be a far more capable machine than any PC currently in existence.Fact2: You will be able to use a yoke, rudder, throttle quadrant etc on the new XBOX.Fact3: The next version of FS will require far more processing power and graphics processing power than any PC currently in existence, therefore the XBOX is an ideal platform for it.Fact4: Any addons WILL be portable to the XBOX (read specs). You will be able to purchase them on your PC from the Internet and place them into the game via the detachable HDDs.Fact5: PCs are reaching the end of the line for gaming. They are already falling far behind (even those with X850XT vid cards) what will be shortly introduced in consoles, and will probably never catch up.Fact6:PEOPLE ARE MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT THE NEXT XBOX WITHOUT REALLY KNOWING MUCH ABOUT IT. READ THE SPECS, LOSE THE ATTITUDE THAT THEY ARE KIDS TOYS, AND GET WITH IT.And most importantly, Fact7:IT WILL ALSO BE RELEASED ON PC, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO REDUCE THE GRAPHICS FROM MAXIMUM FOR A GOOD COUPLE OF YEARS.Any argument that it won't be able to simulate a PMDG 737NG etc. is fruitless as if anything it will be able to do it vastly better than the machine sitting on your desk.Disclaimer: I am NOT affiliated with MS and I am NOT getting paid to say this. I'm just getting annoyed at people who jump to conclusions about something they know little about.James

And how do you know so much about it? :-)Vernon

>Fact1: The new XBOX will be a far more capable machine than>any PC currently in existence.Has yet to be seen but very probably yes :)>>Fact2: You will be able to use a yoke, rudder, throttle>quadrant etc on the new XBOX.Nope not a fact just because Xbox supports USB 2.0 doesn

>Fact3: The next version of FS will require far more processing>power and graphics processing power than any PC currently in>existence, therefore the XBOX is an ideal platform for it.>Sorry, but your Fact3 & Fact5 sound to me like Crap3 & Crap5. I see absolutely no logic in arguing that somehow XBOX would offer more capable hardware than its contemporary PC - both are based on the same silicon hardware available at the moment.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

There is not a single point that actually holds together even though with Fact 1 you would have to pay humongous money to get such a high performing computer so for that reason I can go with that one ;)All the other are definiatly not facts and are totally unlikely.

I am completely serious. Just wait, when the next XBOX is released and it's proven to be able to run FS just as well as a PC (in terms of yoke, throttle set up etc) I'll be saying "I told you so". I look forward to that time.Remember, no PC currently in existence is even 1/2 as fast in pure processing speed or even 1/3 as fast in graphics processing speed.People need to lose the perception that the XBOX is going to be inferior in any way to the PC. It will revolutionise how we perceive computing, mark my words.James

Please, read the XBOX specs. The crap all over that of any PC currently in existence. THAT is a fact.James

The only assured fact is that Microsoft will release it's gaming software on whatever platform it thinks is the most profitable. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft takes into account what a bunch of "hardcore" simmers think. That said, I see no reason why you can't reproduce the fuzzy panel graphics of some of the more "advanced" addon offerings on the next gen console platforms. The crux of the matter will be whether Microsoft will allow addon developers to make their content available via XBox Live! Ricardo

Gee, with the XBOX 360 everyone who has one will have the same graphics to look at, the same processing power, and the same amount of memory when flying. What kind of fun is that? lolJim

There is something profound in the air and I can't put my finger on it.Jeff

This is such a stupid post. Where in the heck is the market for a serious yoke/rudder pedals for an Xbox anyway? There is barely one for the PC. Who cares if you can get butter smooth framerates? What's the point if you can't install add-ons? I'm tired of these ridiculous posts about speculations of FS on the Xbox.

Hello All, Well, until Microsoft puts it into print, it is just all speculation. My wifes kids have XBox and PS2, and some of the animation and graphics are pretty cool, but for me, unless you can have a yoke, Go flight and the likes of that, I'll stick with 2004 or whatever version comes out for the PC. If it doesn't come out for the PC, well, then I'll just stick with 2004.I have to admit, it WILL be interesting to see what DOES develope, but again, until THAT time, it is all just speculation, nothing more.Best,Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. While it is nice to speculate on the future, no one except the good folks at Microsoft know what if anything will be offered on either the PC or the new XBOX platform. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that while discussing the different aspects of this is fine, please let's try not to our collective minds all bothered about it until something concrete is announced. This post was not directed at anyone in particular, but to the community.FWIW, I'm more interested in the Media Center aspects on the new box...I have Media Center 2005 and the Xbox extender which works very well. I have also heard that you can even watch DVDs on the new platform while using XBox live to talk to other people while watching it.Besides, what will happen to FSAutoStart if everyone uses the Xbox???? :-lolAnd since there is already a thread on this subject, I will be locking this one.
