Single monitor, 1920x1080 - 2GB vs 4GB card

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to buy NVidia GTX 760. Do you think, that would I feel any difference between 2GB and 4GB model if I play solely in full HD 1920x1080 resolution?

I have found interesting comparison of those two:

As you can see, the FPS drops only in 4K resolution.

The memory usage was

1920×1080 – 1350MB

2560×1600 – 2060MB

3840×2160 – 3850MB

However, maybe Prepar3D uses more VRAM than Far Cry 3 and BF4?

Thanks for advise,

Lukasz

I'm far from an expert, but if you'll just use it to prepar3d and fsx, I don't think you'll see much difference.

Cheers!

Thanks for your thoughts.

Since noone else replied, I think, I will go with 2GB.

Cheers,

I've just upgraded to a GTX970 4GB as with FSX DX10 Fixer I was peaking 1.4 with 3 monitors, really on 1 monitor I think it'd be hard to push it at a 1080 resolution but any higher probably better if you have the budget to go for 4.

I run a triple monitor setup with 3 x 1920 x 1080 on a GTX780 with 3 Gb and have not had any issues with fps drops due to insufficient VRAM. So if you only run a single monitor then 2 Gb should be more than enough. But if I were you, I would rather buy a GTX970 than a GTX760. This is much more future proof...

Lucasz 4Gb ram will come in handy if you ever run the 21:9 aspect ratio 34" monitors now becoming increasingly available, some versions of which use 1920 x 1080 too.

The other reason for going 4Gb is if you run, or intend to run, DSR using quite high anti-aliasing etc.

1080p one monitor 760gtx is fine that what I use on it, but 970 gtx at 330 may be better buy now as don't need to upgrade psu if it above 500 watts.
