win8 and 8.1 are better for fsx, fsxse, p3dv2, etc.  I never had problems.

I agree. I have had little trouble with the above on Windows 8.1

I was refering to PMDG saying it will not support it's products on this platform.  I noted that Windows 7 is now unsuported as it has reached the end of it's service life. 

I had been waiting for the PMDG release for Prepar3D however as the Steam platform seems to give better framerate etc I was going to buy the 777 last night for that platform instead as I also use a less intense scenery on this and hopefully this would reduce VAS problems on longer flights.

I will not however buy an unsupported product on an unsuported platform so this has caused a revision in my  current purchase to XPlane 777.

Sadly I can only buy one product every couple of months so I like to get the best I can with this.

That's just plain not true... Microsoft still provides techical support and security updates.  My own opinion is that Microsoft is trying to go as fast as it can with Win10, even skipping ver 9, just to put distance between itself and Win8.  However, it's still a platform in use by almost 20% of the windows-based computers out there and is a significant market. There are a lot of people here and in other forums that are available to help with Win8 unique problems and many PMDG users are on Win8.

 

VAS problems exist with FSX, FSXSE and P3D... I've use all three and there's just no getting around the fact that the problem is due to the 32b application.
