Version of Bell 407

Featured Replies

Hi,

I purchased the Bell 407 last year at PC Aviator. Since I have some troubles starting up the helicopter with ASN active, I would like to know if my version includes the latest service pack. How can I check which version I have installed?

Thanks!

That's funny.. I had trouble starting last night as well, I was searching the forums, trying to find the issue, and didn't see it.. next thing you post after me last night.

I also use ASN as well, but wondering why weather should be an issue. I was a beautiful sunny day in FLA when I was trying to start.. I think the wind was 7 knots. The two previous nights i had no problem starting it.

Only thing I did different last night was go into the config app and set a force trim key.

For some strange reason we are still scratching our heads over, the FSX turboshaft simulation refuses to start under certain wind conditions. Why this is we have no clue...yet.

see if setting the 'main rotor drag coefficient' to 0.0055 in the air file would allow start up in wind.  worked for me.

Last night I loaded a different livery by mistake (one I hadn't done the config app on) and it was a mess.

I think loaded up the one that I had done the config saves on and it started fine.. So maybe that was the issue. you have to go into the config app and change every option..l save, then choose the ones you want and save.. Kind of wierd.. but I've had three flights where things started fine after.

ASN it is.. Today I loaded up, it was a lil windy.. back to square one.. rotor would spin but never catch or increase RPM. I turned off ASN (without exiting the sim), and it started right up (didn't even have to do anything). Turned ASN back on, and it continued to run fine.

Kind of a bummer since ASN is the Premier weather Engine of FSX.. hopefully this is something that will be patched at some point. Other than that, love the copter, haven't flown a plane since getting it, just love buzzing around Orbx PNW low and slow, and trying to land in one piece!

ASN winds cause issues for me in both the 407 and the 530.  No idea why.  It only happens when the wind is approaching the heli from a certain direction too.  I can usually (not always) pivot the heli via slew to find the sweet spot where I can still get it started.  Doesn't always work though.

I have trouble with my joystick control of the Milviz Bell 407 in P3D Ver2.4.    It is jerky and, at times unresponsive.  Other aircraft are OK.  However, when I close down ASN the problem completely disappears.  Anyone got any ideas on this?

Hey Kev I had the same problem, turn off enhanced turbulence in your ASN settings and that should solve it. I found that solution on hifi tech forums after a long search.

Turn off enhanced turbulence setting in ASN settings.

Thanks, mate! Doing it now!
