So did anyone learn anything?

For me I watch these and am always amazed how often the crew uses VS in the descent.  A long time ago someone told me (and I think it was an Air Canada pilot but not 100% sure) that below 10K they always use FLCH rather than VS (when not in VNAV).

Second, on the 777 video, after the AP is switched off I think I noticed the 2 AT buttons turned off, something that I thought was not generally done on the 777.  I watched that part of the video several times and could not be 100% sure.

Mark you are right, they do turn AT off. I guess there is no rule that says it should be on. Maybe the pilot feels more comfortable doing it manually, specially if he spent years flying 737s, 767s or 747s before the 777.

Thought that the intersection departure programming in the Comm page was interesting.

Thanks for the links to jetstreamtv and the KLM YouTube channel. Great stuff.

Mark, you should check out Jeff Nielsen's (Airline Pilot guy YouTube channel) ... http://airlinepilotguy.com/ -- dotted thru out his podcasts/videos he provides some very interesting info into the real world of commercial aviation and often makes me chuckle at some of the comments made by "virtual pilots" on how it "MUST" be done.

http://www.liveATC.net is also another great exposure of reality vs. virtual.

Every pilot and crew is different ... Capt. Jeff has some great stories from the many crews he's been a part of.

Thanks for sharing Teo ... I do enjoy real world videos even when they shatter my "virtual understanding" :)

Cheers, Rob.
