February 21, 201511 yr regardless if have light alert led's on the front panel; you should hear beeps if you pull them all out, it’s very basic cmos and post mechanism if they saved up on that component maybe you should get a new board regardless

My electric company screwed up a transformer replacement and when they turned the power back on it shorted out a great deal of appliances in the house plus a computer. It was DOA. I replaced the power supply and everything worked after that. Is your PSU working at all? Russ

I replaced the power supply and everything worked after that. Is your PSU working at all? Russ His PC will boot OK, as long as he does not try to use all 4 sticks of RAM at the same time. I definitely lean towards the idea that there is an underlying problem hardware problem. Ryan had a lot of problems last winter with the computer being "zapped" by static electricity in in the ultra-dry air of his cold Minnesota location. While a mobo, CPU or RAM can be well and truly destroyed by a large enough static spark delivered to the right location, it's more common for a spark to the case to cause seeming temporary problems (like a reboot). Unfortunately, repeated jolts to the case can lead to cumulative damage to the CMOS circuitry at the molecular level that can lead to increasing hardware instability over time. That kind of damage often manifests itself when the system is put under a higher-than-normal load. (such as adding additional RAM, which requires the memory controller to have to increase the amount of current it delivers). Russ Just practice good electrostatic discharge prevention when handling computer circuit boards outside of the case. Especially in dry winter weather! When I work on a system, I wear only cotton clothing - no nylon, polyester or wool. I wear a grounded conductive wrist strap, to drain any charge buildup on my body, and even remove my shoes and socks - literally working in my bare feet.
