simconnect for use on client pc

Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to use addons like asn and others on my client pc via simmconnect. Is there a guide to set this up with p3d or is it the same as fsx.

thx Lee

The guide that comes with ASN's Documentation is the best I have seen.

For some addons such as Radar Contact and FSCommander you will also need WideFS

my question was if p3d has separate simconnect files that need to be installed. and what differences betwen fsx and p3d simmconnect setup.I.e what is the p3d specific protocol to run addons on client pc

Hi,

I use several programs (Apollo Airmap, ASN, FSGRW, Saitek FIPs Drivers, Sim LauncherX...) on a Laptop Client. Basically it's the same as with FSX. However, some of the programs need specific versions of Simconnect installed on the Server. It's not sufficient to install the most recent P3D/ESP version from the SDK. Instead, it's a good idea to install all you can find (should be all downloadable somewhere). As far as I understand and observe they can just coexist.

There are Simconnect Versions for original FSX, FSX SP1, FSX SP2, FSX Acceleration (don't recall if identical to SP2), P3D2.

Here are the versions on my system:

10.0.60905.0 (FSX)

10.0.61355.0 (FSX)

10.0.61637.0 (FSX)

10.0.62608.0 (FSX)

1.0.195.0 (ESP - should be from P3D)

You will find them under C:\Windows\winsxs\

Kind regards, Michael

You don't have to download them...they come with P3D

+1 and P3D STILL DOESN'T INSTALL SIMCONNECT BY DEFAULT grrrr :P

I was trying to get Accu-Feel working in P3D V2.5 and it wasn't showing up until I remembered to install the latest simconnect msi in the folder posted by netshadoe.

It is also required by Plan-G on my laptop connection (although I think you can use FSUIPC as well..).

On the same topic. Can anyone tell me what I must do to connect Prepar3D 2.5 with EFASS or PlanG.

I can get neither working and have tried following the instructions. I put my modems IP address as the server address on my laptop in the EFASS options and select it from the EFASS server on my desktop which runs the simulator but it does not connect.

Do I also need to install or do something different? I am not that familiar with networks and IP addresses etc.

Do I also need to install or do something different?

Have you read the Plan-G manual? All the info is there - it took me a while but am back with Plan-G networked.

I think you need to use the PC IP address that hosts P3D not the modem/router IP.

You should be able to see your P3D PC address on your modem's web config page.

Hope this helps!

P3D STILL DOESN'T INSTALL SIMCONNECT BY DEFAULT grrrr

It installs only the new P3D SimConnect.  It's up to the user to install the legacy SimConnect(s) from FSX.  They're sneaky that way!!

Ah ok. I will try this. I did read the manual and tried to follow the instructions but on my client machine when I open PlanG, I cannot locate Prepar3D or open the database as the simulator is not installed on that machine. I don't know what to do in that case.
