I know (after taking part in a popular thread here) that the multiplier tweak gets rid of the popcorn effect but I would like to know where the devs stand on getting REX clouds to look great at high altitudes in the sim.

Any news? / work around's? / comments?

Simple George I saw this and was not happy what I did was go to advanced weather settings and played with broken clouds 7/8 - cloud type etc. this seems to wake up P3D into displaying some really good looking stuff try it you will see what I mean

I didn't disable anything if you do what I suggested your weather themes will now appear better and cloud filled it seems to effect them after you play with advanced settings from what I have seen

I think I need sleep. I just assumed ASN. Even though it was never mentioned. My bad.

Good point Dave I need sleep too - sorry advanced weather settings in P3D :)

Anyone notice his fps 110 - very nice 2.5 is offering more fps and that proves it addons or not very impressive and what I am seeing also - PMDG T777 not as lucky about 50 to 65 but smooth sailig

I get the same issue with REX 4 clouds (and soft clouds) with ASN. One of the last niggles that bothers me in P3D because FSX did not seem to have the issue as bad.

I also noticed this (popcorn clouds) after installing rex soft clouds but tinkering with the settings mentioned above cleared it up - it was fine before I installed rex soft clouds by the way but no biggie as it is quick enough to straighten it out

I disabled Force BKN to 7/8ths in ASN just for the hell of it. I only tested one spot PAHO, Homer, AK.  Personally, I liked it better without it checked.

Cant comment on ASN as I am using Opusfsi now - regardless the tweaking needs to be done in P3D advanced settings to bring it all to life

heres proof before tinkering I had ugly popcorn clouds after it looks like this - pretty impressive imo - by the way this was UTX V2 USA and FTX global REX4 and soft clouds only in these shots

You mention P3D "advanced settings". I can't find anything like that on my system.

I've never played with those settings Richard, I can't wait to get home now to test it out lol....Also those screens you posted look great but the popcorn effect really comes into play over around FL320+ give or take...maybe earlier....

I will play with some settings tonight and re post some findings.

Play with the settings on the right hand side menu shown in the screenshot - your worries will be over Buddy

Dont pay attention to those settings shown as I am at work and those are not mine - start with 7/8 broken and cloud type - thanks

Richard, when you get a chance, can you share your settings that have worked for you? Also I see your not an ASN user...I think that ASN takes over all those advanced settings, but I am not sure; I'll have to test. Please share your advanced weather settings page! It would be a good footstep to my testing.

Thanks buddy!
