AAL Cost Index for 738

Featured Replies

Hello fellow simmers.I was searching the subject for the last 2 days whereever I could, but never found anything on it.Only here at AVSIM I got some answers, however they are not what I am looking for.Does anyone by any chance know the cost index for American Airlines?Any help is appreciated.Thank you very much. With best regards Kirill Lofichenko.

Kirill,I have a friend who is a senior AA pilot. He recommended using 50 as a reasonable balance between performance and efficiency. When you say for the 738, I assume you mean the PMDG 737-800. I fly that, but because of time I only do short hops. The cost index does not seem to matter much for those short flights. Keith2W6

That's great. Now I have some numbers to work with :)It's true, for short flights it does not matter, but I am flying 3-6 hour flights and efficiency there is very important.Thaks a lot.Kirill.

LOL50/100 is a reasonable balance between anything and anything! In fact the balance doesn't get any better!

What is a 738? Is that a 737-800 model?

IIRC, in the PMDG 737NG, the cost index does NOT affect how effient the plane is. I do not think that is modeled.

Yes it is 738.That's ICAO code for it.

>IIRC, in the PMDG 737NG, the cost index does NOT affect how>effient the plane is. I do not think that is modeled. I would expect the opposite. I bet what is modelled is the correct drag function (which roughly increases with the square of the speed) and that is more than enough to see much higher fuel burn at higher speeds.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg

I believe it is modeled, by changeing the CI, cruise speeds change accordingly.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800S Asus Motherboard1.0 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 40 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Thanks for clarifying that! I was always a bit baffled by the use of the term. For a long time I thought maybe it was some sort of simmers 'in' nomenclature.

>What is a 738? Is that a 737-800 model?Yes .. thats correct
