Stuttering/Lag | NVidia Surround system Prepar3d 2.5 HELP |

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

So I've recently bought Prepar3D 2.5 and already finding issues. I run 4 screens, 3 on surround on a gtx 970 at a total res of 5760x1200 and a small vga monitor on another card for maps. Anyway I get a lot of stuttering. I'm not finding fps very stable either. I have been streaming through OBS aswell which was part of the middle screen and at 1920x1080 res streaming. Anyway I use NVidia inspector purely to set fps to 30. I've tried just without any tweaks and with and still this horrible stutters in the vc and unstable 20-30fps. Below will be my current config. I also use orbx ftx global and England.

System

--=--=--

i7-3770k @ 4ghz

EVGA GTX 970

8gb Ram

Current config: http://pastebin.com/fUhTrLgj

I must also mention all 3 monitors start at 1920x1200

Many thanks in advanced as I would really like to get prepar woking nicely

Bradley

I fly around England a lot. Home airport mainly Gatwick (EGKK).

You can get rid of the buffer pools line - not needed in P3D. Also, check out the P3D Learning Center (http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv2/LearningCenter/getting_started/performance/tuning_guide.html) and apply just those tweaks as a start. Best thing is to rename or delete your current p3d.cfg file and let the sim create a fresh/clean one then apply just the P3D recommended tweaks. Keep in mind, many of the FSX tweaks don't apply in P3D.

What other add-ons have you got running?

Thanks,

Mike

Thank you for getting back to me so soon,

I however have tried many times just a vanilla setup and Have checked that guide several times now. Is there anything in there other than bufferpools that you see to struggle for high density areas especially with my kind of widescreen setup.

Addon wise are the free uk2000 airports most. PMDG 737ngx for prepar3d and the aerosoft Airbus x. ASN, REX. And orbx ftx global and England.

Anyway thank you so far.

Try removing that GT610 and run the forth monitor off the 970 as well.

I presumed adding this extra card would take less stress of the 970 when I need that closely running the 3 monitors on surround well.

There a chance the 610 could be just slowing the 970 down.

Certainly worth testing without the 610.

If you haven't already done it then set Power Management Mode to Maximum in the Nvidia control panel. I had terrible stutters before changing this - I think it was my GTX780 constantly throttling up and down depending on the GPU loads.

Turn of Volumetric fog...

It costs performance. Also when there is no fog arround.

Clouds detail to Medium.

Tesselation to low.

Turn of interior shadows.

Later you can try adding them again.

Sorry where do I find these settings. I use active Sky nsxt so things might be controlled automatically from there.

Many thanks

Just done that now.

Will get back to you on that. Does anyone uses nvidia inspector for locking fps or anything. I use that.

So I can remove bufferpools. Anything else to chAnge for UK like the texture load and fiber frames. I don't know otherwise.

Brad

Would anyone be able to look at my config and find anything to adjust please. I'm really just wanting to do my live streams and everything. And I've been trying with all sorts for months.

Have you ever had it run well? Sounds like a lot of ask for your hardware.

I'm only saying because used to run 3 screens on a 970 and 20 plus fps is hard to do smoothly at that resolution.

Volumetric fog etc you can find in the P3D menu understand Display settings.
