May 25, 201511 yr Commercial Member If you have the default climb set to 800 ft then the aircraft would climb before your finished setting the ALT SEL altitude. I had this setting for the GA option. But i just wrote a code that now sets 800 ft and turns off the AP unit and enables the nav and ALT/SEL with VS modes so you can manually do a go around for a missed approach. Now when you reach altitude the VS or IAS mode will turn off and the ALT/SEL mode will remain on holding the captured altitude. If you change the ALT SEL dial to a new altitude the AP pitch wheel will not adjust unless you turn the VS mode back on. Working excellent! I just got everything exactly like Joe and i first wanted and passed all tests. The new version is available now!!!
May 25, 201511 yr Sounds good, will go grab it. I'm using Raditor to change the binding box , here are the numbers i use, if you want to use them the next time you re-compile be my guest. Here is what it looks like. Marty Baclawski
May 25, 201511 yr I know...without tool tips it can be a little annoying. You just have to watch the vs gauge (which is what I do in XP10 since there are no tooltips in that sim). But you can easily change the default to be anything you like in the aircraft.cfg. It's under the a/p section in case you haven't stumbled upon it already. I haven't tested to see how well the a/p captures selected alts since I usually fly to the selected alt manually before turning the a/p on for cruise. I'll check it out, but the last time I tested that sorta thing was back in v.1.0 I think and I can recall it not being so good...but I'll have another look and see what kind of luck I have. May 25, 201511 yr Commercial Member Yes i use that program and have the radius set to 6. You do not need to change the bounding box entries according to the designer of the product. By the way hangar i do put tool tips on specific knobs and wheels when tuning so you know what your tuning in. But to keep the FPS happy we do not put tool tips on all gauges.
May 25, 201511 yr But i just wrote a code that now sets 800 ft and turns off the AP unit and enables the nav and ALT/SEL with VS modes so you can manually do a go around for a missed approach. Mark this all sounds like excellent progress! How do you invoke this option while flying? Is there a GA button on the throttle? ...also, is the new file 1.6 and dated the 24th@7:40pm?...not sure if the newest one is showing or not. btw - about the toolips, yes I know..its fine I was just replying to Marty's comments about it...he has them turned off. May 25, 201511 yr Commercial Member Yes the GA is on the throttle. Also after talking to one of my beta guys i am going to upload rev 1.6 in the next 10 minutes. We are going to change the taxi amount of throttle so the sound level stays low. So re download and look for a date time after 9 pm PST.
May 25, 201511 yr Wondered why my download wouldn't go past 70 % will try again and then send you a email for a download reset, Progress looks promising. Marty Baclawski
May 25, 201511 yr awesome, ok. I did already download and tested the new altsel features as well as the GA and all seems to be working very good here. I'll redownload again for the new sound work, np. Much appreciated. By the way...I quickly tried your suggestion regarding using nav rad instead of gps rad on an LPV g/s but that didn't seem to work for me, the f/d stopped following the lateral course and the g/s went away as soon as I switch away from gps to nav rad (this was on a GPS LPV approach) ...so it's possible I may have just misunderstood you...Ill have to try again tomorrow..gettin late here. Maybe you just meant to use ILS instead of LPV...but there IS a way to get the f/d to follow the LPV g/s. If I knew the code I'd give it to you...as I mentioned earlier though, Bert knows it. Anyway...really nice changes this weekend, Mark...thanks again! (oh might need a download reset, cant really tell though..check it when you get a chance). Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
May 25, 201511 yr Commercial Member I meant to use the vloc nav radio if your using a ILS not a LPV. I will try to use a LPV and see what i can do as I don't fly much and have never done one. I realize you must have a specific runway for an LPV.
May 25, 201511 yr It works very much like an ILS, except there's no nav1 freq needed to be entered. If you use this airport for example: KFRG You can go to that airport and load the GPS RWY19 RNAV approach on the GTN750...this approach will give you both lateral and vertical guidance (just like an ILS does). Slew out to about 8nm and 2,000 feet north of the airport to fly the approach into rwy19. - Make sure your cdi is in GPS mode and use the nav mode button for the f/d to follow the magenta line all the way to the runway. - Keep an eye on the glideslope inidicator which shows up on both the ADI and the HSI. When the glidelope indicator needle at the top begins to drop you're supposed to click the APP button (so now you should have both the nav and app buttons on. - Now...if it were working correctly, when you intercept that glideslope, just like an ILS, the flight director should guide you down that vertical glidepath...this should work with or without the a/p being on (same as lateral guidance). I'll be back tomorrow nite again, hittin the sheets for now. Everythings working great so far by the way! I'll check out that sound work tomorrow ...sounds like a terrific idea:-) Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
May 25, 201511 yr I posted in the wrong topic. Mark and I spent some time working on the LPV issue, and it appears to be fixed. Mark is testing it as I type this. With toothpicks holding my eyes open. Your explanation above is pretty close to what we used. Just used the current RNAV Z 30 plate for KLGB from Airnav, and got things headed in the right direction. Was a matter of coding and testing after that. Have a good night, and hopefully this rectifies what seems to have been your primary issue with the MU-2. It really is a great bird. May 25, 201511 yr Commercial Member Thanks hangar as Matt helped me figure out how to setup a LPV in my GTN 750. I kept using an ILS runway and that's why i could never get anywhere. Now that i did n LPV approach i new why my APR mode would not allow a capture. It was because we use the CDI range to activate in nav mode. So i simply added a new entry for the APR to capture using 2NM cross trk and GPS mode on and it works perfect. I will be releasing rev 1.6A tonight. This way you can update me by the time i wake up tomorrow!
May 25, 201511 yr Woah! See?...I knew once you understood that it would be an easy enough fix...more great news then...fantastic Mark! ...and a big thank you to Matt for helping out with that private session too! Can't wait to try it all out later. Wife and I need to pick out a new sofa today (Memorial Day sales here in the U.S you know)...I'll be around tonight though and load her up for sure! May 25, 201511 yr Having a real hard time downloading the files but as long as you guys are good with my resets I will go grab it. Would you guys see if your having a Porpoising problem at altitude, mine is swinging +/- 500 feet once i get up to altitude. Keep up the Great work Guys . Marty Baclawski
May 25, 201511 yr I'm looking forward to flying 1.6a as well. After being up way too late last night, well early this morning really, I didn't have time to be able to fly the new revision. Mark kept up all night. Matt Bernard20+ Years Commercial/GA A&P/PLST
