Reinstalling P3D from scratch?
I need to do this too so I can upgrade P3D versions. Hoping it will fix the CTD issues I have with every single flight now. However I am the king of procrastination so it hasnt been done yet. Just the idea of removing everything, and putting it all back makes me shudder. Having a beautiful, crash free experience in DCS is usually the culprit that keeps me from going forward.

Looking For New Rudder Pedels
I've got a set of the new TM's on pre-order. Have tried all but the MFG but none have worked out well due to my situation of being a below knee amputee. I'm hoping the heel catch on these new ones will help. Will report after I get them and give it a go.

PMDG 777. What MCP altitude do you set at Top of Descent?
Pretty sure this isn't procedurally correct, but I usually set it too the first altitude restriction in my STAR. Or if I'm feeling lazy, the IAF altitude for my landing. Would be curious to hear how it's really done though.

Trying to order a Rig today.
N405GJ replied to flyingjohn50's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcMy system has 2 SSD's. One 250GB for Windows 10 and other incidental programs and the other, a 500GB NVME SSD for other games and sims. And lastly the 4TB WD Black for P3D as well as all my other storage needs.

Trying to order a Rig today.
N405GJ replied to flyingjohn50's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcIf what you listed above is in your price range, go for it. It's a nice Skylake build and will run P3D nicely, as well as anything else you throw at it. My only suggestion to change would be the HDD. Ditch the WD Blue for a WD Black in the biggest size you can afford. I currently use a 4TB WD Black and I have P3D installed on it. The performance gains between putting P3D on an SSD or a fast HDD like the WD Black are not enough for you to notice. And if you add a lot of add on aircraft and scenery you will quickly fill up any reasonably priced SSD. My P3D install is just over 1TB now. Hope this helps in your decision making. You are certainly off to a good start. Edit- After quickly browsing their website I see that the largest HDD drive they offer is 1TB. If your comfortable with working inside the case go that route, then replace the 1TB model with something larger after you get it. Typically swapping out an HDD is not very difficult.

980 Ti Advice
N405GJ replied to Finnerz's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI just installed my EVGA 980ti Hybrid last night and am nothing but happy. 6 hours in DCS World with a +150mhz OC and the card never got above 50C. This is at 4K, every option maxed out. I'm happy with my choice. P3D testing will happen tonight.

980 Ti Advice
N405GJ replied to Finnerz's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI recently had my EVGA PSU fail and I have to say, the customer support and RMA process was extremely smooth. Best support I've had in a long time. So much so that I decided to go ahead and order their 980ti Hybrid to replace my 2 MSI 970's. So I would go with EVGA. Hope this helps in your decision making.

How do I change to P3D?
Yes, this is a bitter pill to swallow. I initially had the same issue. But when you look at what you are getting, it really is worth it. Get one aircraft, your favorite, and the others as time goes on. Again, this is what I did. I purchased the NGX and flew it quite a bit. I did miss my 777 though. But when PMDG took the advanced tech from the 747v2 in development, and applied it to the 777, I purchased that one. IMO that showed me that they are in fact interested in keeping older products moving forward where they can. This is all just my 2 cents worth, but I hope it helps.

Status KA350i?
Thank you for the update Colin. This will certainly be worth the wait.

Model-only split-scimitar-winglets update
I can see both sides of this conversation. Personally, I would also love to have an option for the SSW's. But on the other side of the coin, PMDG isn't known for doing things the Carenado way. For example, the 5th engine ferry pod was mentioned above. If it is done in typical PMDG fashion, it will effect the way the aircraft flies. This really is the best of both worlds. If PMDG were to choose to do the SSW's, with a proper air file for such an addition, that would justify a higher price. While I would like to see them on my NGX, I would prefer it to affect the aircraft performance accordingly. Most of us would not even be able to perceive the performance improvements, but it would be there. That's just what PMDG does. We expect nothing but the highest level of fidelity possible from PMDG. And that is their niche. Which they fulfill quite well. So that's my 2 cents worth.

What's your day job?
You mean FlexOptions or FlightJet? Love the new paint jobs going on the CL-350's. New uniforms are a bit different though. Anyhow, on to me. 22 years in aviation in some form or another. Licensed A&P, but currently doing Line Service for a world class FBO here in Florida. I play/work with the real things, and fly the fake ones in my spare time. I think the aviation bug has taken me completely.

Cool : Virtual CDU
Agreed. As an owner and user of all of Mr. Foti's apps, I couldn't be happier. And you can have multiple connections. Left side on my tablet, right on my phone. I can check the status of a flight from anywhere in the house. Not to mention you can purchase the license for the upcoming PMDG 747v2 and have it on launch day. All for a lot less than the other options.

This may be the bird that lures me to the "dark side".

How often do you fly coordinated?
Wait, the Yaw axis is for more than taxiing?

Scimitars and Kudos
This has been asked a few times now that I have seen, and unfortunately the answer is always no. But perhaps, if we are very lucky, after they clear the current backlog of projects they will do a V2 of the NGX. There are many of us that would love an update that includes the scimitar winglets, but it will be a ways off if at all. That said, PMDG has surprised us before. Like the recent patch to the 777.

Saitek X-55 Profiles for Airliners
N405GJ replied to gabejo's topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etcPersonally I have mine set up with most important items like flaps, gear, AP disconnect, TOGA, etc., all mapped in the same location for all aircraft. I think you will find this easier than a different profile for each aircraft. Hope this helps.

Carenado C90 GTX or RealAir Turbine Duke V2?
I will add another vote for the RA Duke. You actually get both eye candy and nice systems modeling! Something Carenado still hasn't learned how to deliver.

QualityWings 757 $19.99 at Just Flight
I just pulled the trigger and purchased it. I am particularly interested in the -200F variant for use with my VA. Hoping she looks and flys nice in P3Dv3.1. And for what it's worth, the sale price of $19.99 was still available.

QualityWings 757 $19.99 at Just Flight
I know it says it's not supported in P3Dv3, but does anyone have this working in p3dv3? I would like a 757 in my hangar, and this one seems to be the best model.

Realair Legacy Release
Rob (and the rest of the RA Team), I want to publicly apologize for a couple of passive aggressive posts I made about the length of time that the update was taking. I had no idea of the amount of upgrading that was going on, or that a lot of it was even possible. I purchased the aircraft on the night of release, and put 6.7 hours on the hobbs meter without getting out of my chair. I have never been so captivated by an aircraft in the sim. The only other thing that comes close is the PMDG aircraft, but that is just time playing around with the systems modeling. If the Legacy is any hint as to what is coming with the Duke, I am very excited, but will wait patiently this time. The Duke is absolutely my favorite GA twin, and I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us in V2. I am reasonably sure that the bar has truly been raised throughout the entire flight sim community. Fantastic job!

Pedals worth it for an amputee?
N405GJ replied to N405GJ's topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etcWhat a coincidence you found this thread. A coworker of mine recently loaned me his Saitek Combat Pedals, along with a Thrustmaster Warthog. Its all still in my office, not hooked up as I have been rather slow to stop by the hardware store for a sheet of wood and some screws to mount the pedals to. I did a dry run and tried them out while not hooked to the computer, and on carpet, they were way to awkward to use as they were sliding around and tipping over. I am hoping that I can make it all work if I mount them to something. Of course the other part of me wonders if its all worth the hassle, and should i stick to my X-55. DCS and the A-10 is what is primarily driving my interest in pedals as the TM HOTAS has no twist grip.
