May 31, 201511 yr I try to use the virtual cockpit as much as possible and thus avoid key board commands. I have troubles with activating TOGA using the TOGA buttons. 1) I can only see the left TOGA button but not the one on the right side.Is there a way to make the right one visible ? 2) I noticed that when pressing the left TOGA button, both throttles advance to full power ! 3) How does the system work in the real world ? Any help is appreciated. HubertWerni Herbert Werni
May 31, 201511 yr TOGA is introduced sufficiently to answer your question in the Tutorial, also the FCOM has extensive information on "how it works." You sound surprised, didn't you expect takeoff power when activating takeoff/go around power (TOGA)? Dan Downs KCRP
June 1, 201511 yr Author TOGA is introduced sufficiently to answer your question in the Tutorial, also the FCOM has extensive information on "how it works." You sound surprised, didn't you expect takeoff power when activating takeoff/go around power (TOGA)? You missed my point which is : how can I see the TOGA button on the right side using the Virtual Cockpit ( F9 ) Herbert Werni
June 1, 201511 yr Commercial Member 1) I can only see the left TOGA button but not the one on the right side.Is there a way to make the right one visible ? Adjust your viewpoint. You're not really supposed to see them in the real plane. You just feel them. Likewise, you don't quite stare at the throttle when you're using it, you just feel it. 2) I noticed that when pressing the left TOGA button, both throttles advance to full power ! Correct. This should be unsurprising. When you hit the left AP CMD button, both ailerons work together, along with both elevators, and the rudder. There's a button on both because the crew members are using opposite hands to work the throttles. What's easy for the captain with his right hand might be to use the button on lever one, while to the FO, it would be just the opposite. 3) How does the system work in the real world ? Press button. Get TOGA. As Dan mentioned, the details are provided in the FCOMs. The basics are: press either TOGA button, and the autothrottle will place the thrust levers in a position to provide rated thrust, and appropriate flight director cues. June 1, 201511 yr Hubert, it is much easier to engage TOGA using one of the hidden click spots on the APFD panel than it is to click the button on the throttle. The hidden click spot is the empty space to the left (or right if FO side) of the flight director switch. June 1, 201511 yr I have a button mapped on my flight yoke for this. Convenient on those missed approaches.
