FSAutostart with ASV and Active Environment

Featured Replies

I have enjoyed the performance boost that FSAutostart gives before starting up FS9. Now that I have purchased ASV with Active Environment I can't figure out how to reconfigure FSAutostart. FSautostart automatically launches FS9 and then launches ASV, however, after ASV with active environment goes through its process of choosing textures it says that FS9 needs to restart to load the textures. Restarting FS9 causes FSAutostart to go through its shut down process. Isn't there a way to Start FSAutostart, start ASV and choose your texture sets and then start FS9 so those texture sets are loaded into FS9? I can't figure this one out :)Thanks in advance for any tips.ScottGreeley, CO

I believe that right now there isn't. However Hifi has launched a SDK. Maybe fsautostart could you use anything from the SDK to detect the condition. Jos

Hello Scott, open with notepad the .ini file you will find in:C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAMEApplication DataFSAutoStartprofilesAt the end of the file, replace with these lines:(change the path to ASV and FS9 if different, of course!)[AutoStart]C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASVASV.exe=5|30C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FS9.EXEThis way, FSAutostart will launch ASV with the textures you want and after 30 sec will launch FS9.Hope it helpsDavid

I can't figure this one out :)You can try this:1) First, start ASV and wait until it's done;2) Then, you can start FSAutostart;I presume there should be no side effects to this (I use it myself).Obviously, you have to remove ASV from the programs FSAutostart starts automatically along with FS2004.Marco

Actually I set up FSAutoStart to start ASV only. After it's done its thing and ASV is started I then import the flight plan and allow ASV to process the waypoints. With ASV now paused with a flight plan processed I then just manually start FS2004 and all is well. This methods allows me to skip the step of ALT-TABing to the desktop once FS2004 is started just to set ASV up with the flighplan. There are lots of suggestions so you can take your pick :)Enjoy!DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.6)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c

I use FSAutostart, but I'm a bit confused. How do you get it to start FS? I have a profile set up and after I start Autostart the DOS window opens to shut down services, then I get a message that a profile has been created, if I click OK it takes me back to the opening window. It never starts FS. What am I doing wrong?Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800S Asus Motherboard1.0 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 40 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg

Dave, I am new to FSAUTOSTART, but (others correct me if I am wrong) I believe to start FS9, go to the configure profile option and where it says path to app put in the path to FS9 and there you have it. http://kensalter.com/forum/uploads/forumad...fsas_help_6.JPGThe Image and information is directly from http://www.KenSalter.com.P.S.Ken, thanks for the great program!

I just tried that, but when I started Autostart I got an error message "error launching FSAutostart batch control" with the path to FSAutostart, my profile and FS9.exe.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800S Asus Motherboard1.0 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 40 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg

I have always wanted to FSAutostart, but I used GameJackal to start FS9 so that I dont have to worry about the 4th CD. Will FSAutostart still work with GameJackal? I normally start FS9 after I start GameJackal.CheersM Tan

Hi Dave,There was a patch on Ken Salters web site to erradicate this batch fault. His web site has been updated since I downloaded it... and I can't find the patch.I can only assume the latest version 11, available in the Avsim library, already contains it.Good luck,Stu.

Hi all:You can get the patch at my support forum:http://www.kensalter.com/forum(look in the Download links section)which will fix the batch error problem. As to the other questions, I would agree that Doug's solution might be best, though all of them work fine.If you have any questions, please post them on my support forum and I'll answer them there. Thanks!
