June 23, 201510 yr Hi All, I was wondering if it is possible to switch off runways so that ATC does not assign approaches to them of AI aircraft do not take off or land on them. I am looking to do this for 2 reasons, 1 sometimes when you have L&R runways one of them causes Chaos as planes need to cross 1 active runway to get to parking (Gatwick fro example) and the other is I am rubbish as non ILS landings and only want ILS runways in operation if possible. Is there a programme or utility out there that can do this?
June 23, 201510 yr You can set runways to "closed" or set them for landing only or takeoff only using Airport Design Editor X (ADEX). My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 2, 201510 yr Airport Design Editor X does not seem to work with the Steam Version, pity If that's because of the lack of SDK you could try getting the P3D v1.4 SDK and point ADE at it: http://www.prepar3d.com/support/sdk/ I don't have FSX:SE so I don't know if the above fixes the problem but maybe worth a try. July 4, 201510 yr The other option of course, if you have "classic" FSX installed as well, is update the FSX airport via ADE first then copy the scenery files across to FSX SE. The P3D SDK/ADE option though is more elegant. July 4, 201510 yr planes need to cross 1 active runway to get to parking (Gatwick fro example) There is only one actiive runway at Gatwack at any time, so there is no need to cross an active runway. Gerry Howard
July 9, 201510 yr So this can be done via ADE. On the other point of ILS vs non-ILS approaches, you would have to make sure that those runways not equipped with ILS are switched off via ADE.
