Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" Curved Monitor

Featured Replies

Hi Paul,

We are still talking a bit about the 34 inch monitor the OP was about but quickly, the resolution of the Dell 30" was 2560x1600 whereas the resolution of the 34 inch is 3440x1440.  The default VC setting for the PMDG aircraft allowed me to read the panels without zooming in.  Some other aircraft required zooming in.  Zooming in would be easy as you just hit the middle button on your mouse and scroll it in or out.  Then touch a knob and turn it forwards/backwards.  I looked into the 32 inch monitors too.  Many here in these forums have them and they are happy but I've heard bad reviews.  In any case anything above 24 inches is going to look amazing for you.  The larger monitors bring in more immersion to your game or flightsim.

Thanks Jim, and I know this wasn't really the appropriate thread for my question- it was just your comment about not having the best eyesight and using a 30" that prompted my question. I'm sure a 1600 px vertical resolution would blow me away! However the Dell 30" Ultrasharp monitors are quite a bit more expensive than the newer 32" 1440 monitors, but I realise the Dells have exceptional IPS panels, build quality and a very loyal fan-base. I'll continue my research in the appropriate forum thread.

Thanks again Jim for your prompt reply.

Greetings,

I've been a 3-monitor surround person for several years, however, reading these threads makes me think I should consider going the 34" single-monitor route. Also, I wonder what my GTX680 card could support. I never have a problem with my present FSX setup, but I don't run 100% either.

I assume there are "single-monitor vs. 3-monitor" discussions, but any advice is welcomed.

Thanks / Les Parson
