September 15, 201510 yr @Rob: Are using TerraHaze for night lighting? Are you able to share your settings? Those shots are awesome! Can anyone comment on the accuracy of the G1000 (other than bugs as already mentioned)? Thanks- good thread! Bruce. Yes, I am using RTH. Here are my settings. Keep in mind, they may not look good on your system because of other nvidia settings and what looks good on my monitor, may not look good on yours, but you can use it as a starting point. I hope this is legible. Rob
September 15, 201510 yr Rob , Are you using RTH with the Pi version ? Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

Customers should download the package again from the link provided. Downloads and installations were increased. You should uninstall the aircraft (delete the old folder) before installing this new version.
September 17, 201510 yr Rob, Am thinking of purchasing and was wondering how is this bird now with the update? September 18, 201510 yr Commercial Member So far, the feedback for v1.1 has been quite good. Very few problems. There are single cases of people who are having some troubles that we haven't yet got to the bottom of, but I suspect that it may be something really simple, such as folder names that have spaces or special characters in them... or conflicting plugins or something like that. Others simply seem to have expectations on this plane that aren't fulfilled (such as those already discussed in this thread). So despite a bit of a rocky start (which was somewhat to be expected), things seem to be looking up.

I don't think I'm going to be a customer of the 182 purely because it's an aircraft I'm just not all that excited by, but I'm hoping that one day we'll see this G1000 in a XP release of the DA42. So I greatly appreciate the effort being put into it that will benefit other releases down the road! Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
September 18, 201510 yr Rob, Am thinking of purchasing and was wondering how is this bird now with the update? Sorry, I did not respond earlier, I just saw your post now. Its a great plane. Very easy on frame rates and flies very well. The latest patch fixed a lot of annoying issues. There are some features that are not modeled at this point. I'm not sure if they will be in the future, but it is very usable the way it is. I'm having a lot of fun with it!
September 18, 201510 yr Thank you sir. Will purchase. September 18, 201510 yr Soooo.... what's the deal on the navdata/procedures? Is this modeled or intending to be modeled? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 18, 201510 yr Procedures are not modeled. If that is just the way it is or if it's something in the works, I have no idea. Perhaps Dan would be the one to answer that. My impression is, they will continue to build on it, so hopfully, we will see it improve. Right now it I can enter way points to create a flight or import them in, much like the default 430/530. Moving map and terrain works fine. cheklists, weather info is working. I don't belive airways are displayed, at least I haven't been able to see them. There are some other features I haven't fully delved into yet. Autopilot works great. Right now, it's a lot of fun to play around with, looks cool, but there are definitely some important feature that are either not implimented or just not ready yet. I hope they keep building on to it, it is a Hugh undertaking and I'm impressed with what they were able to do so far. I feel it's a good value, but I understand that some people may want to wait for a more complete simulation of the g1000, whether it's carenado or someone else. I should add that the plane itself looks great (Typical carenado quality) and I'm very impressed with how it feels in flight. Landings are a real pleasure. Even without the g1000, I prefere it to the 206. Rob
September 18, 201510 yr Ok so it's a default-ish (but with other cool features) G1000 that they're starting with? Should be a good thing I suppose as the stock G1000 is nasty. September 18, 201510 yr Commercial Member Ok so it's a default-ish (but with other cool features) G1000 that they're starting with? Should be a good thing I suppose as the stock G1000 is nasty. "Stock G1000?" There is no stock G1000. As I mentioned before in this very thread, there is practically nothing stock about this G1000. A few comments back, someone expressed the expectation of the G1000 having at least the functionality of the GNS530, to which I responded with an attempt to clarify that this initiative by Carenado represents a complete re-authoring of all the features that Laminar (only recently) put into their GNS530. And the stock G530 was authored not as a plugin, but as an integrated part of the sim... with Laminar's full support, full access to source code, etc. The X-Plane plugin SDK does not include a way to engage with the new GPS system (The one that runs as logic to the new GNS430 and 530). The SDK allows you to hook only into the old, legacy FMS/GPS data structure. Until Laminar provides an SDK for the new FMS/GPS system in X-Plane, this means, all the functions you are hoping to see in the G1000 had to be programmed from scratch... and the data for stuff like airports, nav databases, elevation, water ways, etc. have to be painstakingly extracted and derived from files that are found in the X-Plane installation (such as .dat files, .apt files, .dsf files, etc.) in order to display them on the G1000. Installing a "stock" GNS430 or 530 is a matter of dragging in a pre-fabricated instrument (which Laminar provides) from X-Plane into the panel... which would take only a few minutes to do. To make a plane with a G1000 means, to program the entire G1000 unit from the ground up; each function, each mode, each soft-key, each knob, each database access point, each checklist item, etc. using data that is not always readily available, but must be obtained by scrounging around the X-Plane installation or deriving data from permissible online sources (such as the vector-based water ways or Nav data). The G1000 represents several man-years of development.
September 18, 201510 yr Oh I guess I thought there was a stock G1000...maybe in a columbia - maybe it was an addon. That's unfortunate there's not a way to extract the data from within XP. I'd use glass to make procedures and IFR navigation simpler... checklists and stuff isn't that important to me (on a screen) because I just run a second monitor.
