KMCO - No Heavy gates near the 4 main terminals

Featured Replies

I've got T2G's KMCO and fly Concorde in and out to various airports. The problem is the only heavy gates are well away from the main terminal buildings and I'm parked facing a very bland building. It might as well be the default scenery. :sad:

I know Virgin Atlantic fly there in real life but do all heavy aircraft park so far away from the main terminals? And if they do is T2G version of KMCO accurate around those terminals? It doesn't appear so.

I believe Gates 80 thru 87 are Widebody (Heavy) gates. Virgin British and Lufthansa uses those gates.

If you use the default ATC you need to add,

atc_parking_types = GATE
atc_parking_codes = BAW (airline code)

to the aircraft cfg in order to get the correct gate assignment. (I'm not 100% sure :-D )

Thanks Samaritano,

I'll check what those gates are defined as in the AFCAD. They are probably Medium at present. Hopefully I can change a few to Heavy and take advantage of the scenery.

I'm pretty sure the FS Labs' Concorde-X has those settings but I will check.

All the gates defined in the T2G AFCAD at that terminal are Medium. But take a look at this screenshot of a default 747-400 at gate 81. The red delimiting lines clearly show the gate can take a heavy.

Gates 80, 84, 85, 83 are similarly sized. This looks like an oversight by the developer. They can clearly be changed to heavy. Would anyone care to agree with me? This airport chart certainly backs up Samaritano regarding BA and Virgin.

Only problem is the whole structure supporting T2G forum has crashed so I can't post the question. http://www.iflysimx.com/

Bingo! Modified AFCAD and this is the result. I now have 7 heavy gates at Orlando where I can benefit from the T2G scenery.

If anyone else is interested I changed gates 71, 75, 80, 81, 83, 84 and 85 from Medium to Heavy. Radius was increased from 75.46 to 118.11ft.

Glad to see your sorted it out. I'm going to have to pick up that add on. Looks good.

I'd like developers to spend a good amount of time getting the afcad right. It seems like an afterthought. Many airports have missing ils or dme, misaligned parking spots, no airline codes, incorrect gate numbers, etcetra.

I'm now going to have to check all my other T2G airports as they may be similarly affected. Bit disappointing that a huge amount of work can go into the design but something as significant as gate size is overlooked. Not just once but several times.

And the T2G forum under its parent owner is still down. They do have a Facebook entry so I will post there.

I used the Contact option on the T2G website www.taxi2gate.org

Sent a message around 0900GMT. Hopefully he'll respond in the next 24hrs.

I see the support forum is still down. T2G need to carefully consider the best place for a forum. It doesn't look like the current location is very good. I'll suggest AvSim to him. Anyone know if it's free or not?

On the T2G website there's an AFCAD that has gates changed to Heavy if anyone needs it.

Thanks Pete. My link to the Orlando gate document in #4 confirms what you say.

Having never flown to KMCO I wouldn't have a clue about the difference in pax for those 2 airlines.

I thought they all went to Benidorm! :smile: Clearly being given too much money. I dream of Barbados. I'm assuming they didn't fly Concorde to Barbados? That would be extracting the fluid.
