Bufferpools/ usepools setting DX10

Featured Replies

Hello

I recently upgraded the CPU and my graphics card in my non flight rig (I5 4460 3.2ghz and GTx750ti 2GB) and I bought FSX SE when it was on sale for £5, Am really happy with the performance using the fixer and have not added any tweaks to the CFG file at all, Reading through the set up guide it mentions setting bufferpools/ Usepools, Would this help with my set up? as not really sure what setting i should use or should i just leave well alone?

kind regards

I'm current;y using usepools=0, but TBH I can't see any difference without any bufferpools entry (default). Not smoother, not better fps, but I kept usepools=0 in cfg just for testing.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Also saw no difference with usepools=0, therefore removed all reference to BP in the cfg. Perfectly stable and good performance without that tweak.

With FSX-SE, it will automatically adjust the buffer pools setting to your computer, so you don't even need it anymore. I think the wording was they increased the index and vertex buffers for FSX-SE, so having it tweaked in the config (old FSX) is the same as not having it in the config at all (FSX-SE).

Graphics: Improved vertex and index buffer handling defaults and a few other things to give up to 10% framerate improvement (as long as vsync is not enabled/forced).

Dovetail even recommends leaving the tweak out of the config with that fix they did.

Same here, removed all references after numerous similar tests. In W8 I feel I do not need usepools, guess W8 handles that well enough.

I guess that tweak has some effect in DX9 mode since it doesn't use GPU power that much.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

I use fsx steam i have only affinity mask in my cfg, and it runs great.

i don't think I have an affinity mask setting in my CFG file, do i need to add it? if so what do you think it should be? ( I5 4460 processor)

I am using Usepools=0 and AM=14 ( quad core without HT in my case an i5 2500 ).
