LDS 767

Featured Replies

Im thinking of purchasing the LDS767, But I have a question. Ive read many post that it is better than the PMDG737 as far as FPS goes, but how much better?I own the PMDG737 and the reason for thinking of buying the 767 is because the 737PMDG is very hard on frames but like the complexity of it.Thanks alot

you will definately see a frame rate improvement with the LDS, they did a great job.

Seconded. I was astounded to discover how much better the LDS was than the PMDG 737 on frames. I can't give you figures offhand on my machine but the improvement was instantly noticeable. The 'feel' is much smoother.

You will love the LDS 767 get it.After flying it, enjoying all the audio facilities, ground control, push-back, in flight announcements and the general fluidity of this package, you will not want to fly the PMDG 737NG for a long time.I have both and the 767 is the BEST software in this field. You really feel the power and total immersion with it.Dave T. .........On the lovely warm Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

Both are great - the 767 is a bit better on FPS but I wouldn't say it's a huge difference - but then again, 3 or 4 FPS can make a lot of difference on approach to a big and busy airport! One tip though, the 767 doesn't seem to like repeated Alt Tabs to get back to your desktop, use Alt Enter instead.

ALT ENTER switches window mode to full screen and vice versa. ALT TAB works fine as long as you don't have FS paused when it is minimized

...or use the WINDOWS key of your keyboard, that works very stable for me.

LDS767 scores both in fluidity and sound. Sound is one department PMDG isn't good in. Even the latest 747 has tinny sounds that loop over and over again, audibly, and give me headaches. ;-)Dave mentioned "total immersion" and fluidity+sound is definitely responsible for this.Keith

Hi,LDS767 is a truly fantastic package. Sounds are very very realistic. Having flown several legs in the real thing (jumpseat in cockpit) I can only say that PMDG and especially PSS are way behind LevelD in terms of creating realistic atmosphere. Too bad to hear that PMDG 747 is no improvement there. Modelling only engine sounds is a weird approach creating soundset mainly used from the cockpit perspective.Regarding performance I have no problems with LDS but I get higher frame rate with my PMDG 737 (and PSS320) than LDS. PSS 330 & 340 I get equal performance than with LDS. Frame rate is however very stable with LDS and does not fluctuate at all. Therefore probably steady 12-18 fps at busy places feels more steady than fluctuating 15-30 fps at same locations.I have AMD 3200+, Nvidia 6800 Ultra, 1 Gig Ram (ddr400) etc. In general I do not struggle with performance other than Simflyers sceneries and especially KDFW which is find basically useless.I hope this helps - LDS worth every penny in my opinion. Thank you all for the input, it is much appreciated.I think Ill go ahead and give it a shot.Thans again.P.S one more question actually, is it as complex as the PMDG737?Thanks again

You won't regret your purchase.Let's just say that the 767 is at least as complex as the 737. ;)

I finally downloaded the 767 and I must say, its a pretty nice plane to say the least. On my aging PC, both PMDG and the LevelD seem to tax it as hard as each other. If one is better than the other, FPS-wise, I cannot tell the difference on my system. The systems/sounds/handling are just great. I haven't read the 175page manual yet, but the FMC seems easy to use. It is very similar to the 737NG's FMC. There are differences but I was able to jump right into a flight and I programmed the whole thing from T/off to land without reading the manual. Its alot easier to set up Autoland too.One thing that I think PMDG has done better is the Nav Display (Moving map display) on the 767 isn't as crisp/sharp as the PMDG. It

Couple of points otherwise not mentioned in comparison with the LDS 767 and the PMDG737:-1) You CAN save a flight in the 767 en-route and restart successfully with the FMC and panel up and running exactly where you left it (apart for the clock for some reason!). You CAN'T do this very easily in the 737.2) With reference to the clarity of the instruments, the main displays in the 737 pop-up to zoomed size just by clicking on them and back again with a second click. The 767 doesn't have this.
