October 30, 201510 yr For what it is worth, you can get an improved (and more realistic) Hobart International airport. The model, by Matthew and Sean Devenish, is freeware quality and is available here at AVSIM. Look for hobartairportv2.1.zip. http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=hobartairportv2.1.zip&Author=&CatID= --M --Mike MacKuen

October 31, 201510 yr Very nice! I like it. That's a cool mural on the side of that building on the ramp. Stew "Different dog, different fleas"
November 1, 201510 yr A few quick snaps to hold us until Roman gets his artwork up.First, Roman as one of three pilots who managed to land "on" the short dirt strip at Bathurst Bay. Several managed to get down "off the narrow confines of the strip" while another went skinny-dipping!Here we see Ron making an excellent landing at the difficult hillside field at Sandfly. Behind the dust, you can see the Comanches of Jeff, Nick, Roger, and Josh. While everyone was gathered at Lagoon Bay, we got a good look at the professional pilot's exercising sound judgment in the execution of a safe-and-secure go-around.A colorful mural enlivens the airside of Hobart's terminal. Finally, here is the "gang of eight" in front of the terminal at Hobart International. In the front row, left to right, are Jeff, Roger, Bert (Bonanza) and Mike. In the second row are Roman (Spartan Executive), Josh, Nick, and Ron.Just a wonderful time was had by all. Thanks to Roger for the design. --Mike MacKuen
November 1, 201510 yr Glad everyone made it home in one piece. Looking forward to next week's soiree. Stew Stew "Different dog, different fleas"

( See pages 386 -399 of this document :Bring It On: ) Nick looking nice coming into Jericho (YJCO).The rock formation near Mount Field National Park is simply "brilliant"!Bert in the ground effect at Lake Pedder (YLPR).Mike over the end of the gravel runway at Lake Pedder. Stew (Kodiak), Josh & Nick (Comanche's) following close. Nick turning turn final in the far background."The" group shot. Bathurst Harbor (YBHB). A few of us ended up overrunning the strip and giving the aircraft a wash in Moth Creek. Nick bringing it down with one little bounce at YBHB..Passing up Roger on the way to Burny Island (YBYI).Jeff had a stiff crosswind at Burny Island - here crabbing it in "brilliantly".Stew bringing in his Kodiac. Caution - Roo's in and around field.Ron showing us how it's done. Parking is at a premium.Nick doing the same.Mike showing us how it's done at Sandfly (YSFY). Quite difficult, hills in and around approach with the airport tucked in.Bert threading the needle at Lagoon Bay (YLAG).Nick and Jeff having a little fun at Lagoon Bay (YLAG).Josh bringing in his Commanche at Hobart (YMHB).Mike on approach to Hobart, over the trees nicely.Nick and Roger doing a simultaneous approach on runway 30C & 30R. Slipping it in with a little "floater" at the end. - Nice! The "meeting of the minds".------------------------------------------------------A little kerosene burning was had by Nick and I afterwards. The scrolling message showed "the t-38 substituted for the F6 Lightning". OK then... I'll hop into the F-111 for some afterburning fun."I have a visual on the bogey - he's friendly"67,000 feet, the sky getting dark.Nick coming back into Hobart showing the high angle of attack needed to bring the Lightning in.
