October 29, 201510 yr Hey guys, I purchased this program awhile back for FSX and then paid the $5 to upgrade to P3D v2.5, is REX planning on making a compatible installer for this product to work in P3D v3? I see they've updated everything else pretty much. Cheers! Chas I would support them and buy REX 4 for P3D v3 but I cannot afford it at this time. October 30, 201510 yr I just pointed REX 3 to the P3D v3 folder. Worked fine for me unless there are some weird issues I've missed. Daniel Moser

I never tried that, I heard V3 file structure was completely different than V2 so it needed an installer. October 30, 201510 yr I just pointed REX 3 to the P3D v3 folder. Worked fine for me unless there are some weird issues I've missed. Did exactly the same here. Just went into the config manager and changed the simulator folder location to the V3 folder. Loading weather works fine in the sim so I haven't noticed any downsides - although I use Rex 4 + Soft Clouds for the actual textures so only need the ReX Ess for the weather engine. Probably why it hasn't needed an update for V3 like their other products.
October 30, 201510 yr There are service packs for download to make it compatible with v3. http://www.rexsimulations.com/news.html
October 30, 201510 yr There is no service pack for REX Essential Plus yet. Just look in REX forums. There is no service pack for REX Essential Plus yet. LOOK in the REX forums and you will find a thread I started about v3 compatibility for REX E Plus. Tim responded with exactly what Daniel and others have found, taking a bit longer, but meanwhile just point Rex at your v3 install. Reed later added its a bit harder that they are putting in other updates and a new service pack will b available shortly for E Plus. http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/36568-p3dv3-update-to-essential-plus-overdrive/ Meanwhile, pointing your current version at v3 works fine . . . It's always easier to ask at the developer's own forum . . . BTW, the folder structures for textures and the like haven't changed in v3. Using REX you back up the default textures that REX replaces then it does it's thing, overwiting the defaults. Same as always - that's why just pointing REX at the v3 folder works . . .
October 30, 201510 yr You don't even need a dedicated P3D v3 installer. All you need is to let REX Essential know the location of the Prepar3D v3 folder. October 30, 201510 yr Doesn't anybody read previous posts? You don't need a dedicated installer, as we've now repeatedly said. You WILL undoubtedly want the new Service Pack when it comes out, for the changes/updates that Reed says they are making. Look in REX forums at the link I gave above!. Personally I will want the updates . . .
October 30, 201510 yr I only had 7234 posts to my name, so I needed to find a way to improve that. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
