October 9, 200520 yr >wow, the registry tweak to enable that special Anti-aliasing>did wonders!! Thank you! I can't set the mip map to 8 still,>but at 4 it looks amazing!!!!If you're talking about the mipmap setting within FS, please don't set it to anything other than 4.4 means don't bias the hardware's mipmap decision. The setting was a good idea in 2003 when drivers and control panels were messing with the application, but isn't the case anymore (hopefully). Any other setting either means shimmering or blurries.Cheers,Steve
October 9, 200520 yr This is not totally proven yet, but it appears to be a preferred sequence to option selections. I would suggest that you experiment with your settings a bit.I discovered that the following sequence worked for me:1. Remove the "Adaptive anti-aliasing" check mark in the Catalyst Control Center2. Click Apply in the CCC.3. Click ok to close the CCC.4. Make whatever selections that are desired in the FS9 display settings such as setting the MipMapping level in FS9. 5. Replace "Adaptive anti-aliasing check mark in the CCC.6. Click Apply in the CCC.7. Click ok to close the CCC.Steve appears to be correct in that 4 may be the preferred FS9 MipMapping selection. I really cannot tell any significant difference in quality above that setting, and I do see a small bit of shimmiring on some buildings if I go to 8.Applying the above sequence of settings with an FS9 MipMapping setting of 4, the only shimmiring I see that remains so far are for a few AI Aircraft, particularly the newest Black USAir livery. Virtually all tree and building shimmiring is gone and everything looks much better.Happy Flying:RTH
October 9, 200520 yr Could you explain in greater detail where the registry is to do this editing. I don't know how to get at it.Thanks,Tom
October 9, 200520 yr Thanks for the tipMy question now is, what about the ati control panel settings? I still don't get what mip map detail does. either high quality to high performance, which one is the best?
October 9, 200520 yr How can I select Adaptive AA from the Control Panel only version of the 5.9 drivers?
