September 22, 200520 yr Hi thereIt works perfect and I hope you all read and change the setting in the ini file to your preference , for exampelForceMSAAMode = 2Henrik
September 22, 200520 yr Haven't a clue what these settings means. If you know, and have got a nice result, could you give us the rest of the settings?
September 22, 200520 yr It has worked great for me with a 9700 Pro. What I discovered is that you need to have at least 4X AA otherwise their is little if any noticeable difference (at least on my system). I tried it with 2X and there was very little change. I normally use 4X so it's fine. I've done nothing to the .ini file. No noticeable changes in FPS even in bad weather. I am using Omegadrivers as well. Very nice!Randall
September 22, 200520 yr I did try the DX and did not notice any difference. I also tried it with max 8 mipmap and 4 xx AA and still there was no difference, except that the keyboard and mouse went a bit wonky. :-)Using Win XP with ATI700pro PCIexpress 5.8 cat, 1GB RAM, P4 @3.4HTMany thanks for the tip anyway as it has obviously helped othersBill
September 22, 200520 yr I agree, the change is subtle, but my textures seem to be more clarified. Generally, a very pleasant improvement.
September 22, 200520 yr Generally agree with what Bill says, i.e. textures of trees seem to be clearer in the middle distance, but when looking at them closely it seems as if a very fine transparent grid-like pattern has been drawn over the tree textures. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this at all. Despite that though I'd say the autogen trees still look better now than what they did. September 22, 200520 yr I think it helped a little, less shimmering and the IQ looks a litle better with a 9800 pro. It's worth trying as it doesn't over write anything and is just 2 files.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
September 22, 200520 yr Can people who seem to have this working well please post their graphics settings outside of FS? such as AA, AF, texture quality, mipmap quality, etcI don't see any difference... maybe slight, but not much. With mipmap at 8 in the fs menu it is just as bad as it was before
September 23, 200520 yr Hi againHave any of you saying it is not working tried to read the ini file and change the setting :ForceMSAAMode = 0 toForceMSAAMode = 2 or 4MSAA is Multi Sampling AA, which ATI normally dont do and this is the reason for improvement, without changing this there is very little improvement.RTFM guysTry this and report backHenrik
September 23, 200520 yr Hello everyone,Long time lurker and first time poster. Thanks for the tip, Henrik. I will change that line and see if it helps. I have a ati 9700 ATI with out the change in line yet, I see a little improvement, but not much. I wil try the line changes.I read the instructions that came with the file, but the only line that touches upon your tip is this:How to use: - Put the d3d9.dll and d3d9.ini files into the game's directory. That is, the same directory as the game's .exe file. DO NOT PUT INTO YOUR SYSTEM DIRECTORY!!! - Edit d3d9.ini to your preference. <------- This line. But no where does it say what to edit this line to.I will report back soon :::crossing fingers:::John V 10850K, MSI Unify Z490, 32gb G.Skill Ripjaw 3600 CL16, MSI 5700 XT 8gb, Nochua NH-U12a, WD 500gb Black SSD (OS- Windows 10 Pro), Samsung 2tb Evo plus SSD (games), Superflower 850 watts power supply
September 23, 200520 yr HenrikI did RTFM and can confirm I have tried both 2 and 4 and no improvement but I can confirm that I had strange flickers using it. So for me it is a no go..Using ATI X700Pro Pci express with the new 5.9 drivers..Bill
September 23, 200520 yr I had a little improvement, but I also had some error reports occur after I change the line from 0 to either 2 or 4. I am keeping my mips level at 5 and won't be using these files. I can live with the shimmering.John V 10850K, MSI Unify Z490, 32gb G.Skill Ripjaw 3600 CL16, MSI 5700 XT 8gb, Nochua NH-U12a, WD 500gb Black SSD (OS- Windows 10 Pro), Samsung 2tb Evo plus SSD (games), Superflower 850 watts power supply
September 23, 200520 yr Using a 9700 Pro, 4X AA, 8X AF, Omegadrivers (26.53),and Mipmaps at 4 in FS. I just dropped the files into the main FS9 directory. I've done nothing to the .ini file. The results are stunning. I had gotten use to the shimmering and now realize just how bad it made the scenery look.RandallAMD XP 2500+ @ 3200+ 400fsbNforce 2 Ultra 400 mainboardRadeon 9700 ProSoundblaster 5.1 Live!

I tried it at some challenging airports and cannot detect any reduction in frame rates. I left the .ini file as downloaded.DalePIV 2.53, ATI 9800 Pro Dale
