Affinity mask question and DX10 Fixer

Featured Replies

Hi

One question regarding Affinity Mask settings in FSX and Steve DX10 Fixer.

If I have Affinitymask=14 because I have i5-4690K.

Is it normal that when checking with DX10 Fixer, Core0 is disabled (unchecked).

Will I have performance boost if this option for Core0 is enabled.

Thanks

AffinityMask 14 is for a 4-core CPU without hyperthreading enabled... it is the decimal equivalent of 1110, (8+4+2+0 = 14), Core 0 is disabled, Cores 1-3 are enabled...

If you set the affinity mask to 15, ie enabling all 4 cores, I don't think you will see any improvement, but try it and see :)

I might be mistaken, but leaving Core 0 disabled enables it to be used for other, non FSX/P3D tasks--running Plan-G, or ASN, etc., or even mundane Windows tasks.

Hi, Bert!  Yes, even that.  We missed you this afternoon on our "jaunt".

Yes, it has a habit of doing that--life does.
