Birds Eye View

Folks, if you haven't checked out Birds Eye View textures yet, run, don't walk to get em.I've been waiting on these for some time and purchased within minutes of release. In a word. Fantastic. They have absolutely made the biggest impact on my FS experience of ANY single enhancement I have installed, and I've probably installed most of em.Let me put it this way. If BEV is not compatible with the next FS version when release, I can't imagine I'll install the new version until BEV is compatible.

Im sure theyre nice but I refuse to set my FS to summer in the middle of October. Ill most certainly purchase them when theyre available for the seasons for which were currently in.

I agree. Thumbs up.I experienced some error messages running the configurator. I can't intuit the options available on the configuration screen, so I just chose the default BEV textures and clicked Ok. The BEV textures appeared to install ok.For me, the changes seem to be subtle, but nice. The textures for towns and cities appear to be aligned with road data, and there are some nice golf courses and other details in the textures. There appears to be no frame rate hit. $12 is an excellent price I think. Given that there seemed to be some last minute programming problems at the last minute I'm sure that things will get straightened out. I vote yes and good job on this release. Hope that others who choose to purchase feel the same way.

Is a fix for the problems you had on their website with the configurator.

I think this add on is incredible-everything just looks more real.As for the seasons-I only run the sim in summer anyway-the other seasons on fs look cartoony and unreal to me. I also find the winter flying for real rather boring scenery wise-so I'd rather fly at a nice time of year in the sim anyway! In any case-this is a terrific addition to fs-I am thankful.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I don't know why because I know it is not "real" but still I strive to make things close. I can not fly back in the summer when it is over. Any way to get fall during fall? Honestly there is no complaint or anything negative here as I am sure it is great and I really would buy it in a heart beat (I mean this very second as I am going to fly online in a few min and would love nothing more to put BEV in there) if fall were to be released. I wish BEV the best as I do all companies trying to make a crack at the market by giving us simmers new freedom; just try to make it easier for us to buy. Thank you.

FIX the Configurator by downloading a new "ini" at the Bev site. Mine was the same and now it's great. No errors. Summer just left us......it's worth the $12 to see the fantastic autogen. Besides, if you live in a warmer clime, the scenery is right on....you can still use ActiveSky V and get real weather. I'm pretty sure the Fall Bev will be out soon. Don't wait....enjoy the Summer a little longer.

The fall textures should be released pretty soon from what I hear...but I've just d/l'd the summer textures and they are very impressive from the air. Whereas some textures are a subtle improvement, others are very noticeably so. The autogen trees so far are what have stuck me as being the most noticeably impressive feature. I didn't really like the look of them from the screenshots on the BEV site to be honest, and I was actually a bit wary about them before I installed BEV, but I was wrong...the new trees make the smaller airport & airstrips in particular a lot more realistic looking...very nice indeed. The BEV urban, rural & desert textures are also very well done.IMO it has to be said that these are the best ground textures out there by a mile - a very welcome improvement.

I think I will walk too and as FS10 gets ever closer be rather reluctant to buy more than one season (just to see what all the fuss is about).Bruceb

I am looking forward to the rest, and MS could do no better than give these guys the job for the next version of the sim - they're showing everyone else how to do it properly!Allcott

Seems to make the mountains look much more real. Just too much green in the summertime. When (real life) flying back from the U.K. or the eastern United States, the west is more of a dryer looking brown color, versus the lush greens of the east.L.Adamson

Yep-depends on where you live. By the way-the bev textures do great things for the west in general-no more mars look in the desert....I still don't like flying in the winter-either real or imagined! :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Then I'll have to check it out.Included is a "cold" pic. Uinta mountains near Mirror Lake (Utah)in late Nov. 04 Van's RVedit, I have many more winter shots, such as flying through mtn. passes, but don't have my own web space to post them. One nice thing about Utah, is getting snow shots like these in the mourning, and Lake Powell and Monument valley in the early afternoon, and still be home by the time people start getting off work at 4:40PM.Second pic: Monument Valley at the Utah/ New Mexico boarder. All in a day's travel by GA :D edit again: just noticed a "real aviation screen shot's forum" with allowable larger pics. Of course, everyone else, probably knows. I just don't go through the listings enough.L.Adamson
