July 4, 20169 yr Against my better judgement, I caved and bought OrbX SoCal. I had heard about performance being bad but I figured I have a pretty powerful PC and run relatively modest settings, so I thought (with any control panel options turned off) it'd be OK. KSEA area in PNW for example runs pretty well for me (upper 30's with A2A aircraft.) Wow, this is really bad. Even in the A2A 172 I'm at like mid 20's FPS in areas along the coast. I'm not even going to bother trying a PMDG there, I'm sure it'd be in the 10-15 range. Has anyone heard if they are planning on releasing an update with more options to help FPS?
July 4, 20169 yr Unfortunately not that I knew. I love the area in real life and that's why I bought it. But both performance and rendering of scenery around the coast are not what I expected. The desert and mountains are ok though and also fine for the frames. Hans
July 4, 20169 yr Author Yeah it's pretty much just the LA basin that's so bad. I bought it mostly for the desert flying anyway, but it always puzzles me when performance is so bad. You'd think the priority would be performance and playability on a variety of systems, because no matter how good a scenery looks it's pointless when it becomes a slide show.
July 4, 20169 yr I don't have it, but some people in my virtual airline do, they say it kills your VAS, FPS, and is not worth it.
July 4, 20169 yr Wish I had known it wasn't going to be like PNW. Only OOM errors I have had with P3D is with it on final to LAX. I uninstalled it. Richie Walsh
July 4, 20169 yr I've had OK performance in OrbX SoCal BEFORE very famous recent update. Now it's blurry as face after shotgun - like Whole Tellus is. And I'm terrible sad...
July 4, 20169 yr Had to uninstall SoCal - very nice but didnt want to take the hit - maybe after FTX blurry fix it will be better Rich Sennett
July 5, 20169 yr Both Orbx SOCAL and NCA are unusable for me. Very disappointed with Orbx. I have resorted to photoscenery for this area. Beechcraft Sundowner
