November 5, 20169 yr I said it was talking literally hours. So literally hours. I would leave for work, come back and it wasn't done yet. 10.51 fixed it. Naturally I thought you were kidding. I started with XP10.31 .. then updates. Never took hours to load up. Most of what you mention here is irrelevant. PSU , Monitor Sounds cards etc have absolutely no relevance to loading times. I wanted to list all my system specs for Ryan's general info .... No harm done .. right? 3 min is what mine takes on a 500gb SSD HD mesh latest version for USA When I purchase XP11 I will put that on my SSD .... or possibly get another SSD. Windows can flag a program as unsafe, with this result. This could happen for example if you start X-Plane twice (if it wasn't closed properly for example). Installing the update would have made everything good again, as far as the Windows OS is concerned. Did you try to reboot your pc after this happened? One of the many reasons I don't deal with windows anymore.

Would this happen through windows defender? 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
November 11, 20169 yr I started with 10.50 (latest release w/updates), and when first opening X-Plane, it's fast but after selecting an airport and aircraft (I leave time/date & weather as auto), the loadtime is about a minute to two minutes max, but I watch the progress bar and the prompts that appear. I suppose it depends on how much you have loading XP, but that's a guess. I have found that once a flight is loaded and I wanted to change my location, the change happens pretty quick. Sizziano mentions Windows Defender, which I use, and don't really notice any issue with that interacting with XP. The only time I experience a serious load issue was with an airport I downloaded that didn't have all of the required libraries (still learning about that), but the flight still appeared, just not with the custom airport I wanted (my fault there). I still couldn't be happier with XP, coming off of a hobbling, stuttering P3D.
