November 28, 200520 yr Oops. My bad. I was attempting to delete the multiple posts by Tony and fat fingered the wrong switch. Sorry folks, it was not deliberate.

November 28, 200520 yr By accident? did you say by accident? here is a copy of my post answering JIMJAM's enthusiastic announcement of Bug Strike version 1.0 :This really bugs me! I downloaded the bugger and for no reason, it does not work on my system (debugged FS9 running on a bugged Windows XP).Does anyone know how to turn off the FlyTox spray that sits on the cowl? On my computer it is always on, and the bugs don't splash on my windscreen! Is the switch linked to the landing lights like in the much accalaimed F1 MD80? The blooddy manual is in pakistanese, and although I speak many languages, I can't understand this one. Is someone going to translate it? Tom, it looks like you have a lot of free time at work (at least you have the time to read and respond to this thread), and as you seem to be travelling quite a lot abroad, maybe you have some knowledge of this language and could help us with a translation? I would even be happy with a summary..I have e-mailed the developers about this but got a very unfriendly answer: quote Please stop bugging us with your problem,we are unable to reproduce it and our software has been proven to be bug free. It must lie in your system unquote.I am running PC-Cillin on my system. Do you guys think this might be the cause? On the other hand, does anybody know if someone is developing a "chewing gum under the panel" add-on? I'd love to have that, as I always stick my chewing gum somewhere before talking to ATC (you see, I discovered chewing gums as a kid, when the american GI's liberated the city we were living in at that time, and my parents always told me it was unpolite to speak to someone with a chewing gum in your mouth !).J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgium Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI

November 29, 200520 yr Well, at least I admit to having fat fingers. Besides... that's my excuse AND I am sticking to it.
November 29, 200520 yr Its ok guys. There seemed to be a little misunderstanding betreen Tom and I but a little "donation" seems to have cleared that up.Looking forward to that glowing review.
November 29, 200520 yr Well Tom, I'm retired, so I should but between the second mine, helping out the children, taking care of 5 grandchildren I really don't have that much free time. But right now; I'm relaxing in Spain, so yes, I have much free time over here. :-coolJ.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgium Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
December 1, 200520 yr Tom; Dad Gum your fat fingers. I was enjoying the bug spatter thread a lot. Had some of the best tongue in cheek byplay I've enjoyed in a while. Oh well! Would have probably become a dead end thread anyway as I have it on GOOD authority that a competitive product is soon to be released by none other than the world renowned "Super Quack Simworks" To be known as either "Active Bug 3 and a half" or "Spatter Environment" This offering will include, in addition to what the aforementioned product offered, JUNE BUGS!!!! Yes you heard me correctly we're talking the UNDISPUTED KING of spatter here. To put icing on the cake, they will include sound files of the little beauties smacking the fuselage..windscreen..wing struts ect, with that resounding POK sound we all hold so dear. The "Super Quack" boys have outdone themselves when it comes to "As Real as it Gits" by actually recording...in Dolby Stereo no less.. their sound files down in the Missouri River bottom just south of Dutzow Mo, by flying thru a swarm of "Junnies" in a vintage PA-28 about 400ft AGL. Now I ask you...is that dedication, or not. An extra cost simulation will be offered for the open control pit..I can't say cockpit can I? Pilots In the form of a pneumatic projectile launcher, designed to be mounted on the monitor, which will launch dried peas or other suitable missles at the pilot's nose or forehead. For those who desire ultimate realism a bag of 1oz ball bearings will be provided. Now I'm sure everyone is saying "What a fantastic addon" but I'm here to tell youTHAT'S NOT ALL!!!! No sirree Bob! These clever fellows are including, for a nominal additional charge,a bird dropping upgrade. Now this should not be confused with other inferior products on the market. This unique package is region specific. ie; no Pelican poo in Kansas, no Canadian Goose droppings in Arizona ect. AND not only that its SEASONAL!!! Thats right seasonal! Now in Spring you will get the distinctive purple stain left by our feathered friends diet of ripe Mullberrys. If it hits the windshield just right you can even see the SEEDS. Now how's that for realism!!! It's still in Beta but as soon as a name and release date are firmed up I'll let Ya'll now. Bye for Now DennyProud Beta tester for Super Quack Simworks Denny Retired Professional Tourist
December 1, 200520 yr TomBeen meaning to ask this, and since you just used it.. Where does the expression 'My bad' come from?? Obviously I get its meaning, but it seems to be one Americanism that hasn't yet made its way across the Atlantic to us.Is it short for something?? Perhaps someone can explain.ThanksIan
December 1, 200520 yr Ian, just another example of the distortion and simplification of the English language by today's generation. Tom is being cool; this is a phrase commonly used by teenagers and the cartoon world-saving teen character "Kim Possible". My five year old can tell you all about it.In English, it might be more precisely rendered as "my mistake". In England, the populace have not yet slipped into using adjectives as nouns, as far as I am aware.I trust, also, that in Old Blighty it is not yet common parlance to say "I'm good, thanks" for "I'm well, thanks" or "I'm sick" for "I'm unwell". Or am I out of touch?Back on topic ... I must have been very slow here. Where can I find these bugs. I've got to have them. I still use Roger Long's wonderful 'Bugs' program on some of my helicopters which dates back to FS2000, I think, but would be interested in any new item of insect interest. I modified some of Roger's stuff to give me more contemporary windshield splatters of today, such as crab shells in seagull droppings and such like; but it may be time to move on. Are these new bugs dynamic? If so, this is indeed good news. I can use some of my working windscreen wipers to swat 'em.Link please, someone!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
December 1, 200520 yr Mark,Their site was overwhelmed and has gone down temporarily. No one could have predicted the incredible response. Rest assured that new hardware is being installed as we speak and that the site will be back up soon!Kind Regards,Paulhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/134537.jpg
