December 3, 200520 yr >Yes, as part of the beta process, Dreamfleet uses MY computer>to make sure it runs on the low end stuff! :D >>L.Adamson ---- Athlon 1900XP/Geforce3Ti500If you don't mind saying, how does the Baron perform on your hardware? E.g., is the VC usable?
December 3, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Meigs is only gone from the database, not the scenery?Even if it is, can't a file put it back just like the WTC?Best Regards, Donny:-wave
December 3, 200520 yr Thanks for the notice...DREAMFLEET!I have a Dell Dimension 2.8gig Pentium 4. I use 1024 mg RAM, have a NVidia 6800GT 256mg card with the latest drivers. Soundblaster Audigy Sound Card, and Dell 18" LCD monitor. I use 1280 x 1024 resolution. I frequently defrag and I have the following addons: ASV, Active Camera, FSGenesis landclass and Mesh (38), Ultimate Terrain, and BEV (BirdsEye, I use 2X AA and 16x Anisotropic Filtering. I fly with Autogen at Dense, and overall scenery as Very Dense.I've turned off the Reflective Glass in the VC, and the plane is certainly flyable. I would, however, like it to fly more smoothly.Since I'm getting Track Ir4 for Christmas, I'd really like to fly the Baron from the VC as intended for this device, and get it smoother.
December 3, 200520 yr Author Stan, as you can see from the review page, I also have a P4-2.8 and fly in 1280x1024 resolution.I have my framerate limit set to 30 fps and am happy when I get a consistent 30 fps, which I do with simple aircraft and when I am not at super detailed large airports with AI traffic.Unfortunately, as I load up my machine with more and more detail, the point comes where something has got to give.. Although FS9 does a much better job IMHO than FS2002 did in terms of still providing stutterfree operation even as the framerates drop to the low 20s, there is an element of fluidity that gradually goes away as the fps get lower. There are some interesting blog reports http://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/20..._stutters.shtmlhttp://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/20..._blurries.shtmlfrom a member of the MS FS9 team that attempt to describe what happens "behind the scenes" as FS9 gets loaded up with more things to do in real time. For me, the answer is to reduce the elements that cause FS9 to slow down. On my system that is firstmost weather, then AI etcUltimately, the only answer may be a faster CPU, just as it has been several times over the last 15 years. Each time I've upgraded, I've been amazed at how fluid everything became, only to have it deteriorate over time as I add higher resolution, scenery, complex aircraft etc..If there is a silver bullet, I have not found it... just balancing complexity and fluidity... however unsatisfactory that can be at times. December 3, 200520 yr On my system the 2d panel works very smooth and the frames are high but when in the VC I lose 12-20 FPS with unlimited frames. The gauges in VC mode are pretty smooth but I get microstutters when banking the craft and panning the view. I don't use the VC when banking or performing maneuvers because of this. I like the Baron as a 2d aircraft but probably won't fly it much because of the big hit in the VC. I bought the XP version.Specs - AMD4400+, 1gig, BFG 7800GTX, 74gb Raptor, SB Audigy.Charles
December 3, 200520 yr Charles, lock your frame rates at no more than 30. :-)Also, for all, DF support is located here:http://forums.flightsim.com/dc/dcboard.php...topics&forum=27Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg
December 4, 200520 yr A couple ideas I'll try to throw in this thread. Don't ask me why, just try!1) reduce your scenery settings to no more than normal, but you can increase your autogen if you want. scenery when more than normal, given the rendering pipeline and implementation, is affecting A LOT the frame rates. Really it is giving some more buildings and details, but it is SO MUCH impairing your rendering pipeline that it is not worth it.2) if this applies, don't go over 80% with the AI traffic at first, and even try reducing it to 60%. This should still give enough planes around you while saving again A LOT of CPU.3) try 1280x960 instead of 1280x1024. Not only you will save some bandwidth (less pixels to refresh on your screen), but your will also restore round gauges in the 2D panel (instead of oval).4) Since you are using Active Camera:"Apparently the toggle "Interal pilot view" in the AC options causes the heavy use of CPU by NTVDM when GNS is in use. I unchecked this option through FS options -> ActiveCamera2004 -> Interal pilot view, and the CPU usage normalised. Checking it again raised the CPU usage again. Interestingly this behaviour only shows up when GNS is in use."http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=14334&PN=1This should be a good start!Hope this helps!
December 4, 200520 yr Author All of the above makes good sense... except for the 1280x960 recommendation on an LCD screen with native 1280x1024 resolution :-( If your video card does not support "letterbox" display options, FS9 will simply stretch the picture to fit.FS10 will have to take into account that most flat panel displays are deviating from the original 640x480 aka 4x3 ratio display size.On the new 1280x800 wide-screens, that might make for some nice panoramic panels... memories of FLY! December 4, 200520 yr >3) try 1280x960 instead of 1280x1024. Not only you will save>some bandwidth (less pixels to refresh on your screen), but>your will also restore round gauges in the 2D panel (instead>of oval).>What do you mean? I have just got a new 19" CRT and set my resolution to 1280*1024 and I havn't noticed that the gaugesin the planes are getting oval. Is it a very small effect maybe?
December 4, 200520 yr Pretty small difference. Try a widescreen monitor (e.g. 1680x1050) for some real eggs.
December 5, 200520 yr QUESTIONMay I return my LITE version of the Beech 58 and pay for the FULL version? How can I do this?
December 5, 200520 yr You can upgrade from the Lite version to the RXP version for $12.95 at the Dreamfleet website. Here's the link:http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/B58...ew_upgrade.htmlJim
December 5, 200520 yr Umm, the link is not active yet. Coming soon?Cheers,N. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
December 5, 200520 yr Ditto..The link on their page doesn't work! I look forward to the upgrade if it will increase the frames.
December 5, 200520 yr I have the light version and turned off the window reflections. This helped my frame rates a lot. No problems, except for flying in icing conditions. I have posted on their forum though and they are looking into fixing that.Kevin
