December 2, 200520 yr I bought the lite version of this plane because I didn't think I needed the Reality XP gauges. Now, after reading the review on the front page of AVSIM, I'm wondering if I should have bought the full version.WHY? My Baron seems to have serious FPS hits when I'm in panel mode.Would the Reality Gauges have made this a smoother frame product?I just want to know if there's a difference in either version when it comes to what we all want from this hobby....smooth flight that feels real. The reviewer gave this plane 5 stars.
December 2, 200520 yr Whats your system specs?RXP i believe, with their new Avionics bus, actually has no effect on the frame rates, and if anything, might improve. Not shure though, anyone know? If you buy the upgrade, you basicly have a fully fuctional, much more realistic avionics setup in the baron. If your in it for the realism, id highly reccomend it. You can basicly learn the entire garmin unit from RXP's addons. Chase Barnett
December 2, 200520 yr I purchased the lite version as well, hoping for higher FPS. I get fairly bad stuttering with this aircraft. With my FPS locked at 25, I get frequent drops to 18-19, even at default airports. I only fly in the 2d cockpit, with the VC turned off. I've been trying to find the problem with no luck. The performance does not seem right for this plane. I fly lots of other addons and this is one of my worst performing planes. I prefer the default GPS over the RXP 530. It is a great product, but the outdated database is just a big hassle for me. There was supposed to be an upgrade option to buy up to the RXP version. December 2, 200520 yr Craig,I can't help you with the stutters as there are too many variables that make this kind of troubleshooting nearly impossible, but the latest database update from Garmin is from AIRAC 0509 and updates both of the Garmin trainer applications from Reality-XP. See this forum post for more:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=13589&PN=1Jimhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
December 2, 200520 yr Me too! Great aircraft but really hard on the frame rates. I've given up flying it and have been trying to upgrade the default Baron instead. Its not like I have a slow system either.Cheers,N. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
December 2, 200520 yr but the latest database update from Garmin is from>AIRAC 0509 and updates both of the Garmin trainer applications>from Reality-XP. See this forum post for more:>>http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=13589&PN=1Wow, I had no idea they finally updated the database! I never saw an announcement or anything. Thanks for the link. Anywan I need to go back and fly the A36. The weird thing is I get better FPS with the A36 and all the upgraded avionics. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
December 2, 200520 yr inspite of a large misconception that running the Trainer in the background causes a serious frame rate hit, most of the Reality XP customers seem to report that the 430XP/530XP runs BETTER than the default XML based GPS. This applies to ANY derivative GPS made around the default XML code as well...This holds true since the Reality XP Avionics Bus and the 430XP/530XP v2005!Hope this helps!
December 2, 200520 yr Author A sad side-effect is that Meigs airport is gone... just like in real life :-( Bert
December 2, 200520 yr It's called having a pillock for a mayor, and we Londoners know all about that......As to the Baron, it's smooth as silk on my system and I have lower specs, mine's only a 3.06 Ghz with a Radeon X800. What memory do you have in that as I have 1Gig.
December 2, 200520 yr Well my frames on the XP version are smooth as can be. Truly a incredible plane and I am amazed with all the eye candy, detailing and gauges Im not stuttering. That said, I had one #### of a time getting the reality garmin to work. I had to change the default trainer folder to c:/ Otherwise my computer wouldnt find it and I got a 9547 error code.amd 3500+7800gtx2 gigs

December 3, 200520 yr Well, I took the Lite Baron and added the RXP 530 and 430 to it. My stutters are pretty much gone now! The Baron is nice and smooth just like the A36. The updated database is great too! No more entering waypoint coordinates manually. :-jumpy ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
December 3, 200520 yr Thanks for the info. I would conclude from this discussion that there really is no significant difference betweent the Lite and Full version when it comes to frame rate and stutter. Perhaps Dreamfleet will read some of the comments here on their extraordinary plane. I'd love to fly it more than I do.
December 3, 200520 yr Hi Stan,We do read the comments.Considering the sales of both the A36 and Baron, those experiencing performance issues are less than 1% of the total user base and, sadly, this is almost always to be expected with any high end add-on. Overall they are excellent performers, but as one can also expect, they are not "default" aircraft either. Aside from taking guesses as to what may be going on at your end, there is really little we can do.Ultimately, such issues are almost always system-specific in nature, and as such there is little we can do about them. While it may seem that many are having stuttering issues based on reading this thread, that fact is, it is less than 1%.We do this work knowing that we will never be able to get our products to perform to "100%" on 100% of the systems out there, as there are myriad differences between systems. Even two "indentical" systems may not perform identically.Ultimately, the answer lay not with what we could change in the product, but we could change within your system to solve the issue. Now, if one only one of the DF team could get in front of your computer to see what is going on.... ;-)Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg
December 3, 200520 yr Yes, as part of the beta process, Dreamfleet uses MY computer to make sure it runs on the low end stuff! :D L.Adamson ---- Athlon 1900XP/Geforce3Ti500
