January 13, 20179 yr Hey all, I need help getting the best performance out of my PC for FSX This is what I have: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING Intel Core i7-6700 8M CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX FSX Addons: -GSX -GSX LAX HD -FS2CREW -PMDG 737/MD-11 -ACTIVE SKY -Vpilot I'm having issues with lagging, airplane disappearing, scenery disappearing, and occasionally the screen goes black Thanks!!!
January 13, 20179 yr Apart from the HIGHMEMFIX tweak (details of which you will find by searching the forums), my advice would be to avoid most other tweaks and keep things simple! Bill
January 13, 20179 yr Author Do you have "Preview DirectX 10" enabled in the "Settings-Display" menu? Good question I don't know.. I will have to check. Apart from the HIGHMEMFIX tweak (details of which you will find by searching the forums), my advice would be to avoid most other tweaks and keep things simple! Bill Understood, is there any advice you can give to me in regards to over clocking of changing settings on my graphics card?
January 13, 20179 yr Stuttering with that rig? Holy smokes i'm just about to transition to FSX, i might have to re think the system i will be getting.
January 13, 20179 yr Understood, is there any advice you can give to me in regards to over clocking of changing settings on my graphics card? You need to post more info... copy and paste your fsx.cfg and post screenshots of your nVidia Inspector profile for FSX. Also, is your CPU a "K"? Thanks Greg
January 13, 20179 yr Author You need to post more info... copy and paste your fsx.cfg and post screenshots of your nVidia Inspector profile for FSX. Also, is your CPU a "K"? Thanks Greg Forgive my ignorance but what is a "K"? And how do I find my nvidia inspector file? Stuttering with that rig? Holy smokes i'm just about to transition to FSX, i might have to re think the system i will be getting. Unfortunately! I hope it's just user error I must be doing something wrong
January 13, 20179 yr The non "K" 6700 specs are here: https://ark.intel.com/products/88196/Intel-Core-i7-6700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz The 6700K specs are here: https://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz The primary advantage of the "K" is not so much its higher speed but that it can be easily overclocked. An average 6700K can be quickly clocked to 4.6 GHz on almost any Z170 motherboard. If you're not using nVidia Inspector to set-up your 1080, you should be. Get it here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/nvidia_inspector.html On the right side of this page is the Avsim "Hot Spots" column... use the "FSX/P3D Config Guide" to set-up the sim and your system. HTH and good luck, Greg

January 13, 20179 yr Right click on FSX.exe (not the shortcut) and make sure it says run with graphics card.
January 13, 20179 yr Understood, is there any advice you can give to me in regards to over clocking of changing settings on my graphics card? I have never over clocked (although it is probably something I should consider) so I wouldn't feel confident to advise you on that. I used to tweak like crazy with FS9 and when I first started using FSX but, with too many tweaks, it became a bit like 'a dog chasing its tail'! Then I read advice somewhere about using FSX with no tweaks except Highmemfix and, having followed this advice for the last few years, I have largely been very happy with a smoothly performing FSX. But that is just a personal view! Bill
