the previous demos were difficult to make, and they did not accurately portray the radar contact experience. i doubt we do another video. i think there will be enough positive feedback on 4.01 that you will be able to make a informed decision.jd

>Living on the other side of the planet in South East>Australia, I avoid any purchase that can't be downloaded. Was>confirmed in this belief by a post on the RC forum - a hopeful>RC purchaser from my part of the world still hadn't got his RC>cd after 35 days!! Not a good sign. But after receiving>soothing tones from the RC people I have now placed an order. >Convenient to do so now because I am away from home for two>weeks so the wait isn't an immediate issue. Now if it isn't>there when I get home I will not be a happy camper. Just hope>it is all worth it and that the voices issue isn't as bad as>it seems to be from the demos. I have waited nearly two years>for this release so when the voices issue first surfaced I was>quite dismayed. But if I mull over this purchase much longer>I may as well not bother - with FSX coming you never know M$>may surprise us all and make RC4 obsolete>>BrucebI have been flying RC4 for weeks now. Prior to the purchase of RC4 I used to fly on Vatsim for 95% of my flights, since the FS9 ATC used to drive me bezerk. Since I have installed RC4, I have not flown on Vatsim once. Every once in awhile I think about a Vatsim flight, then I go to Servinfo and look at how many controllers there are on the flight path that I am thinking about flying, and even if there are a couple of controllers, I realize that I will talk to that many controllers before I leave the takeoff airport area using RC4. ( Clearance Delivery, ground, Tower, Departure Control.) Then I have the advantage of all my AI aircraft included in the flight, not worrying about a controller signing off as soon as I get in the air, etc...etc.... Last night I did a short UPSVAC flight from KEWR to KBOS. I was in a line of 6 aircraft waiting to take off at Newark, with more aircraft behind me. No crazy go arounds as you sit on the taxiway, everything was like it would be in real life. I had traffic alerts on much of the trip from ATC. The alerts were all sensible, not like the FS9 alerts that give you a plane 6 miles away and 6 o'clock, headed the opposite direction than you are going. Sensible traffic patterns, the ability to fly Sids and Stars, you can't ask for anything more. As far as FSX is concerned, I think it will probably be at least 18 months before I even consider buying it. A new computer with dual core, a new operating system, a couple of thousand dollars, and how much better will it be than what I have now??? Seems most of the screen shots I have seen are showing the advantages of FSX and low level VFR flying, and I don't do alot of that at the moment. In addition, unless the new OS and FSX are different from any other OS and FS version, you know there will be bugs and glitches and fixes, and I think I will wait until all that is ironed out. In the mean time I am flying with excellent ATC in a Simulation that is pretty good in my opinion.

It's funny to see this post resurface as it is the reason I became aware of Radar Contact, and subsequently purchased the software. One revelation I had the other day after using this program for nearly 3 weeks is I can no longer tell the difference between the voices of the MS ATC and RC ATC, and with the added bonus of more realistic atc procedures from RC4, I can never go back. Thanks to the RC team for a great product.Ian.
