December 26, 200520 yr Hi there, I just got RC4 and am still paying with it, so I'm not in a position to make a recommendation. However, I can address a point you raised in your message. What I thought would be a hurdle in the installation process, namely waiting to receive a registration key, took exactly 10 seconds. So my installation went very smoothly indeed.Hopefully this information will help you make an informed decision.Best regards.Gianluca
December 26, 200520 yr >>Yeah, but that is just me. As I said it is undoubtably a>>fantastic program. But the voices really sounded like my ole>>chess computer from the 70s. I know for many that is only a>>minor thing. But for me it was no go.>>>>Alex>>>>You are the first person that posted that they got Radar>Contact 4 and didn't like the program.. How long did you try>it? In the mean time I checked out the web site for FS Com>and it seems to be a Flight Planner, Auto Pilot, Weather>Generator, etc..etc all within 178 Meg file size.... I>doubt if it will be very useful, but I will be interested to>read your report on it....Bob,It sounds like he tried RC before but not RC4; after your review and the demos I heard on their site...I'm personally up for the gamble. I detect the roboticness a little in the demo, but the immersion makes up for that big time. Also I've listened to some live ATC feeds...and they can sound robotic too at times.

I have done some picking of controller voices and AI Pilot voices since I got the program, and I think it sounds very good now. I declared my first emergency yesterday, and today a missed approach. It was really fun to fly with this ATC....
December 26, 200520 yr Ok guys, you are right. I tried RC before not RC4. I am not sure if they did anything to the voices. Maybe I should take the plunge and try again. I will download the demo and see if I change my mind.Alex

The voices on my PC do not sound like the demo video, where the voices seem to be at a slower pace.
December 26, 200520 yr Commercial Member i think i'll take the videos off. seems to be a nonrepresentative portrayl of the actual product.jd JD Read my blog
December 27, 200520 yr Wow, what a long list of responses. I am sure Radar Contact is a great product. But the downloadable/not downloadable version issue I think was well covered in the other thread. The maker of Radar Contact will evaluate implementing it in the New Year. Fair enough. But just as the developer of that product can choose to distribute it as he (or she) wishes, I can choose to spend my dollars elsewhere as well.FS COMM doesn't appear to be a real ATC package... I couldn't dig up much on it other than some old threads from awhile back where a couple of folks came away unimpressed with the quality.I'm kind of surprised that more ATC add-ons haven't appeared on the scene. I'll keep Googling, hopefully something else is out there in addition to FS COMM 2004.

December 28, 200520 yr >Yeah, I know its a good product ;-) But I also know I won't>get it in 2 days via the mail, and I happen to be on vacation>this coming week... The other RC4 thread has plenty of debate>on their decision not to implement a downloadable version. >Personally I think it is ridiculous and would rather buy>another product. I will read up on FS COM and see if it has>good reviews.Last I read the product was around 700MB or so. That would be pretty darn expensive for the publisher in terms of servers and bandwidth to support downloads of that size, and would jack the cost of the product way up. You don't see Megasceneries available for download for the same reason!I just ordered my copy about 30 minutes ago. I'm willing to wait a couple days for a product like this.Unfortunately, we now live in a get-it-now/on-demand world, and now people (including myself) have trouble grasping the idea of not getting something immediately. I too had to think long and hard for a couple of days before I finally splurged for RC4, but after I made the decision, I realized that my resistance was a little stupid. I will treat future purchase decisions differently, and will focus more on the quality of the product, and less on the delivery method.Just my $.02 (ok so maybe more like $2.00!! hehehe)-matt Matt Salo - Minneapolis, MN, USA (KMSP & KFCM) - My Flight Blog * PP-ASEL / 1981 C172P & 1982 C172P * Virtual Pilots Association

If they had ordered it, when they first began the thread, they would HAVE it long before this... and would be enjoying the -BEST- add-on Ive purchased for the Flight Sim, since Bruce Artwick created it . . . ..

December 28, 200520 yr Commercial Member everyone has the right to their opinion, and the right to express it (within reason)it was a decision on my part not to offer downloads. some didn't like it. so be it. i said i would look into it next year. the first place had a limit of 60mb files. lol. looking elsewhere..some people like to fly online with live controllers, and think everything else is unrealistic. others disagree.bottom line - rc is available on cd, shipping anywhere in the world included in the cost, which gives superior atc coverage at every airport, at every hour of every day.wishing everyone a happy new year...jd JD Read my blog
December 28, 200520 yr <>Excuse me, but imoz cleary was "complaining." Referring to the CD-only delivery method as "ridiculous" is, in fact, a complaint. While you are correct that all poster's views and opinions deserve respect, the business decisions of venders are equally deserving of respect and imoz showed little respect to RC4's business decision not to provide a download version. We can disagree all we want with those business decisions but to call them ridiculous is uncalled for.Since we are expressing opinions here, I am astonished at the passion for instant gratification that the download issue speaks to. In effect "boycotting" what appears to be the undisputed leader in virtual ATC technology (voices aside)because the buyer must wait a few days to acquire it is curious indeed. With all the complaining, entirely justified, about the default ATC, one would think that users would hitchhike long distances to acquire the product if need be.For the record, I am not an RC4 user yet.Regards,Jim
December 28, 200520 yr Here I am using FsCom. It is a great programFsCom is exactly like the wellknown Proflight 2000, only more enhanced. Not as enhanced as Rc , but with region dependent accents regarding ATC chatter. The program has evolved and is improved in many ways.Just take a look at the site :http://www.fsaddons.deAnd it is able to use speech recognition.I really like hearing German ATC chatter when flying over Germany or Italian ATC chatter when flying over Italy. The layout is also very professional. One thing : it uses the ABL adventure maker so you have to fill in the Sid/Star before starting up Fs.Workaround : start up your favorite weather progam , fill in first the name of the departure airport and see the wind direction.Do the same for the arrival airport. Now you can make a good adventure. The people behind Fscom don't do much advertising, so it is not widely known. It deserves better.Way better ! 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
