What is going to be very interesting is reading the very first posts from the people that ordered it as soon as it is released. I am positive that you are going to see posts like this.."Gee, I have a 8 month old Pentium 3.4 with a Gig of Ram, and a 256 Meg Graphics card and I only get around 5-7 FPS unless I disable the cows and horses and chickens and baggage trucks running around the ramp..Then it jumps up to 15 FPS, unless I go to JFK, where I only get 9 FPS. Looks like it is time for a upgrade to a 64 bit processor and Windows Vista....... Funny , on the box it says it will work with a 1.5 Gig processor and 524 megs of Ram......;( If I had known this, I think I would have stayed with FS9 and all my add-ons " :)

Am I the only one not worried about release dates? Whether I buy the new game right away or not is still to early to tell (need a lot more info). Either way, fs2004 is still going to be on my hard drive for awhile. No new release is going to change that, unless by some miracle, most addons work without conversion (which is unlikely). I honestly doubt even MS could sneak the new version into beta without anyone hearing about it. But who knows? FS2004 is here now, and is not leaving my system for quite some time.

"But your analogy breaks down. Bush would then be Microsoft FS team. Was (is) MS giving the press (PC Gamer) the scoop which (using your analogy) is misinformation or false information. I don't think so. Someone leaked the info and now MS is in plausible deniability."That assumes that no one at Microsoft can ever be wrong. Take FS2004. How often did we see posts like "I heard from my friend, who has a friend who is second cousin to the janitor, who works at Redmond!". Many are making the assumption that both the print magazine and the website are hearing direct from the person who makes the go/no go decision. Thay may be true, then again it may not. I do believe that both parties did communicate from someone who works at Microsoft or works with Microsoft. I believe both parties believe their source to be accurate. And I also believe that they can be wrong. And for the doubters among us, they can also be right. It's one vote I won't make. -John

At approx 150 posts, the Flight Simulator X thread has gotten a wee bit large. I've opened up a new one so people can continue discussion. Some interesting insight has come from the thread since it's creation yesterday. Whether you believe a new version is on the horizon or sailing just out of reach, it's a good discussion and members have managed it pretty well. Kudos to all.-John
