Flight Simulator X - Part 2

We don't have access to the full text of the press release. All we know is that SimFlight's Francois Dumas clearly feels that the press release casts doubt on the info in the PC Gamer article.

Well, whenever it comes out I will wait 3 to 4 months while all you guys beta test it for me! Then I'll jump in with both feet and keep FS9 active for another six months or more. I just removed FS2004 two months ago. I try to get the most from my payware!Dave

thats nonsense! Just because MS is set to announce something officially doesn't mean it was premature in pc gamer, it just means they really did get the scoop and nobody else did.EXACTLY. Anybody with a modicum of knowledge of how the press works will know that PC GAMER likely got their information from a reliable SOURCE. Of course Microsoft will always have plausible deniability once it gets out.

Earlier this week I ordered another gig of RAM giving me a total of 2 gigs for my Dell Generation 3 system. Now I know why I ordered it...:-) Jim

John, I wish the forum could break threads at 50 posts...it becomes unwieldy. Perhaps they could be locked, and renewed.Eric

>- stunning weather engine, no need for external ones anymoreI think they said something similar to that for FS9 before its release..... I have a feeling we'll still see an ActiveSky for FS10.... :)

"John, I wish the forum could break threads at 50 posts...it becomes unwieldy. Perhaps they could be locked, and renewed."That's not a bad idea. The problem is very active posts are hard to lock. If I lock a thread while someone is in the process of replying, their post appears with the "Reply" button enabled. I have to unlock, then relock the thread. It actually happened when I was trying to create the new thread--drove me bonkers.-John

Anyone know do to find the MS press release? Or is it a private release (if there is such a thing)?.Mike

>Read the press release. I'm sure the other news>organizations like Avsim were contacted with this info as>well.>>Simflight are not the ones stating the info wasn't correct, it>was MS.>>Let me know if anyone else needs clarification on this issue. I have read it it says that MS will annouce, it did not say that they already annouced anything to simflight or that PC GAMER was wrong, simflight seems to suggest something without saying anything of substance. What I find amazing is the fact that Simflight and not any of the large boards such as Avsim or Flightsim.com has not come forth with at least what is claimed by simflight. Why would they not if they had some info?[h4]Randy J. "EXACTLY. Anybody with a modicum of knowledge of how the press works will know that PC GAMER likely got their information from a reliable SOURCE. Of course Microsoft will always have plausible deniability once it gets out."I hate to beat a dead horse, but didn't the press consider Bush a reliable source when it came to WMD's? I would trust even less someone spilling the beans on a product for a publicly traded company--anyone with a modicum of knowledge of how public companies are handled would know the consequences of "forward looking" statements that aren't handled completely by the book. Just kidding, and just trying to make a point here that there's more going on here. It sounds like a bit of back 'n forth is now going on between a web site and print magazine either by accident or design.-John

>Well,>>I'm done trying...rofl. Just let everyone think they know>what they read and move on.>>As I said before it's going to be great and I can't wait.kindly point out where in the press release it states the info was premature, as this simflight website states.IMO it seems as if they and some other people are just bitter about not knowing the news themselves...

"Microsoft just sent out a press release telling us that they will be announcing news on the next version of Flight Simulator (internally known as FSX). As we already suspected, the article in PCGamer was premature and incorrect, reason why we did not mention it in the news. Expect more news to surface after New Years Day..... we'll keep you posted of course."
