<<>>Maybe "complain" would have been a better word? Not sure if that would have made a difference or not. I was simply expressing my own opinion about the reactions of others that I was so surprised to read. At some point we have to bring in the new and throw out the old. Otherwise, we would all be sitting here typing on 286s. Scott

"At some point we have to bring in the new and throw out the old. Otherwise, we would all be sitting here typing on 286s."Ugghhh hmmmm hmmm I resemble that remark. My PC is the closet joke of this forum--running Windows 98 on an old Intel MB and P3/800. I'm reserving Vista (if it's out of beta) for my new box. I'm not building a new box until I know what FS-X will truly be looking for. IOTW, I am waiting for the forum folks here to be the first to jump off the ledge :)-John

Please stop running around here playing know it all. If simflight knows something they can't say publicly, fine. If you do too, fine. Stop the "I know something and you don't" act.Mike

Hey John,Just buy a top of the line Dell and your set...hehe.If you're going to do it, do it all the way and you'll know you can run anything that comes down the pike. :-)

Jeff,I think Al's asking for the text of the press release itself, not the site's retelling of it. If we're treating the PCGamer article with some distance we have to treat mention of that "press release" with some distance as well.-John

John,I know what he's asking for. I guess it can be construed several different ways. I didn't say the PC Gamer article was 'entirely' out fo whack and neither did I say the press release on Simflight did.I do think however that it was "prematurely" released with some incorrect info such as the release date.Let's put a stop to this now before everyone get's all bent out of shape.

"Please stop running around here playing know it all. If simflight knows something they can't say publicly, fine. If you do too, fine. Stop the "I know something and you don't" act."Mike, please relax. Everyone is running around playing "know it all"--those who take the PCGamer article as "gospel" or the site's press release as gospel or even those like myself (I honestly don't know what to believe--I was wrong on one product release in the past and indeed a magazine knew more than I thought I did). Beyond that, others are just trying to apply common sense as best as they can. -John

"common sense" was the phrase I was looking for, John. :-)The bottom line is, we are all excited and pationate about our hobby, so let's not start arguing with each other.

super. Didn't mean to be disrespectful, but almost everyone is in the dark here. Will all have to be careful of what we say are sure things.Mike

<>That is what has me chuclking even more than the basic premise of the thread which is speculation about speculation. The use of the term "press release" is an utter misnomer. What MS apparently did was to issue targeted, not public, communications to certain entities. A "press release" is what is says it is...i.e. a communication intended to be made available, verbatim, to the public by the media to which it was directed.(-:

The whole discussion on the worth of beta testers seems to have sparked a response from on one of the developers blogs....http://blogs.technet.com/pixelpoke/pretty in-depth analyis of the FS beta team.Ian.
